Drink or Keep
Little did Jean-Michel Alquier know that the micro-cuvée he created less than 10 years ago would be in such demand that he'd barely be able to keep a few bottles! Here's his story: " In 2001 I had a small, rather 'rich' parcel for Faugères, and I didn't know what to plant! So I decided to introduce this grape variety ( Sauvignon) to my property. The root system develops more and more each year, promoting minerality. At the time, I was thinking that, if this wine became unsaleable, I could always drink it with Friends! Around 400 bottles a month, that's 13 bottles a day!!! " A rare cuvée to discover!

About the domain :
Sophie and Thibaud Bardi de Fourtou took over this historic Faugères estate in 2017. The wines we tasted for this edition are the latest witnesses to the transition from Jean-Michel Alquier to the new owners. The couple's aim? To perpetuate the style of the house, whose vineyards are dominated by old syrahs from massal selections (among the first planted in Languedoc in the 1960s by Jean-Michel Alquier's father, Gilbert), complemented by mourvèdre and grenache. We're keeping a close eye on this new development.
