Domaine Jean-Michel Alquier - Les Pierres Blanches Sauvignon Blanc 2010
Jean-Michel Alquier had no idea that this micro-vintage he created less than 10 years ago would be so in demand that he would barely be able to keep a few bottles for himself! Here is his story: " In 2001, I had a small plot of land that was rather 'rich' for Faugères and I didn't know what to plant! So I decided to introduce this grape variety ( Sauvignon) to my property. The root system develops more each year, promoting minerality. At the time, I thought that if this wine couldn't be sold, I could always drink it with my friends! Around 400 bottles a month, that's 13 bottles a day!" A rare cuvée to discover!

About the estate:
Sophie and Thibaud Bardi de Fourtou took over this historic estate in Faugères in 2017. The wines we tasted for this edition are the last examples of the transition between Jean-Michel Alquier and the new owners. The couple's goal? To perpetuate the style of the estate, whose vineyard is dominated by old Syrah vines from massal selections (among the first planted in Languedoc in the 1960s by Jean-Michel Alquier's father, Gilbert), complemented by Mourvèdre and Grenache. We remain attentive to this new turning point.
