Château d'Anglès
From the Médoc to the Languedoc... Éric Fabre, former technical director of Château Lafite-Rothschild, and his wife Christine Fabre, both from winemaking families, set out on a meticulous search for a great Languedoc terroir. It was in 2001, in Saint-Pierre la Mer, on the La Clape terroir, that they acquired and restructured the vineyards of the Château d'Anglès on 45 hectares. This work includes a rebalancing of traditional grape varieties: Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache and Carignan for red wines, Bourboulenc, Grenache, Roussanne and Marsanne for white wines. Today, Vianney Fabre, their son, carries on the Fabre family's winemaking heritage by joining the Château d'Anglès in 2010 to international marketing.
The Fabre family was right: the La Clape terroir was recognized as an AOC in 2015, becoming the first communal appellation in the Languedoc.

" Another sure bet from the south of France, Languedoc La Clape Classique 2016, which comes from the estate owned by a former Château Lafite-Rothschild winemaker. The blend is 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre, aged in concrete vats for 18 months. It is full-bodied, concentrated and with a velvety texture, intense nuances of blueberry, black cherry and plum." (Wine Advocate 2018 - Robert Parker) New from Languedoc!
