Domaine de Bellivière
Since 1995, the Bellivière estate has been in the expert hands of Christine and Eric Nicolas, both driven by a boundless passion, joined in 2015 by their son Clément and his wife Laure-Anne since 2020. Today, Bellivière is one of the jewels in the crown of the Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir appellations. TheBellivière estate covers 18 hectares spread over 5 communes and more than 60 parcels. (Lhomme, Ruillé sur Loir, Chahaignes, Marçon and Dissay sous Courcillon). This mosaic of terroirs constitutes the richness and diversity of the Sarthe department's vineyards.

Domaine de Bellivière 's vineyards are farmed organically, and since 2008 have been certified Demerter biodynamic. The vines are cultivated (ploughing, scraping) without weedkillers or chemical fertilizers. Massal selection plantings are deliberately designed to be high-density, more qualitative, so as to better occupy rare and valuable terroirs. AtDomaine de Bellivière, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand, and yields are resolutely moderate to ensure that only the finest berries are picked at optimum ripeness. This quest for ripeness, a constant concern of Eric Nicolas, results in wines with varying levels of residual sugar, offering tasty nectars ranging from dry to mellow.

Since 2016, a second structure (négoce) Les Arches de Bellivière has been created, enabling us to cope with successive episodes of frost in the region. The team turned to a sustainable partnership with a winemaker from Mont-Ventoux, with a similar approach of certified biodynamic vineyard management and values closest to the Nicolas family. The harvested grapes (Grenache and Aubun) are then vinified in the estate's cellars to produce red and rosé wines. The range is due to be extended in 2022.

"Cuvée solidaire

An original blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Aubun, direct from the Ventoux, from a winegrower friend working biodynamically to make up for the frost damage. This southern red combines freshness and deliciousness with concentrated fruit. An everyday wine 100% pleasure!

"Grandiose

"Peach and pepper support exceptional bitters with very subtle aromatic persistence. A great bottle " (Le Guide Bettane + Desseauve 2023) A blend of very old Chenin vines (50 to 80 years old), Vieilles Vignes Eparses is a remarkably well-balanced white, with a fine mastery of ageing and a lovely finish of fruit and minerality.

(2015 vintage notes)

A very aromatic red, with scents of ripe red fruit (cherry, wild strawberry). The body is tight, with freshness and complexity, the structure is fine and the flavors chiseled... It will gain in finesse and complexity with ageing!

Domaine de Bellivière - Franc de Pied 2009 (sec)

Cuvée Franc de Pied is a wine made from 4-year-old vines planted franc de pied (without rootstock), which already offered more richness than normal young vines. With ripe fruit, this dry, full-bodied white offers a deeper minerality. It can be drunk within a few hours of opening, but will evolve over a decade or so...

Domaine de Bellivière - Philosophale (moelleux) 2010

New vintage, 2009 rated: Robert Parker 94-95+/100
Philosophale is a mellow wine (85g residual sugar). The color is a concentrated, intense, bright old gold. The nose is complex, with sweet spices and candied fruit. The palate has a surprising balance of liquor and acidity, and the purity of terroir. A very long finish adds the final touch to this great success!

Domaine de Bellivière - Haut-Rasné (moelleux) 2009

Note: Gault Millau 17/20, Bettane & Desseauve 15,5/20
"A mellow, opulent and precise wine. It calls for a fruit dessert but is ideal on its own. The finish already contains all the yellow fruit possible". (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2012 - Bettane & Desseauve) - " This mellow wine takes us on a journey, both on the nose and on the palate. It opens with an aromatic richness of ripe fruit, with candied orange, pear and pretty floral notes. Under the palate, the sweetness is subtle, with fruit and freshness, before a long mineral finish " (Gault Millau Online)
