Domaine de la Janasse
Visit Domaine de la JanasseAimé Sabon founded the renowned Rhône Valley winery in 1973. Visit Domaine de la Janasse today manages around 50 hectares of vines, mainly in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône and Vin de pays de la Principauté d'Orange appellations.

The work in the vineyard is organized to obtain the best possible ripeness and concentration of the grapes, but also and above all the expression of the terroir. To achieve this, the Domaine de la Janasse team works the soil with a variety of ploughs (decavaillonnage, hoeing) to force the roots deep into the soil, and performs many hours of green work, such as de-budding, leaf thinning and green harvesting. Each of these operations is considered on a case-by-case basis, plot by plot, year by year. To this is added a particular meticulousness in the vinification and ageing of the wines. Domaine de la Janasse is a family-run business, where the utmost care is taken in working the vines and in making great wines.

"A flagship cuvée that continues to top international rankings!

"Châteauneuf du Pape Vieille Vignes 2021 is one of the best wines of the vintage. Mainly Grenache (15% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah), a third of which has been destemmed, it offers a Burgundian bouquet of black cherries, redcurrants, peppery herbs, graphite and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied, balanced and elegant, it boasts fine tannins, beautiful purity of fruit and remarkable length. It's hard to resist today, but will benefit from a year or two of bottle age and can be enjoyed for well over a decade." (Jeb Dunnuck 2023)

"A very nice entry-level product".

"Notes of redcurrants, red bell pepper, orange zest and sweet spices. Medium-bodied, with taut tannins. Dark and slightly crisp, the Merlot influence is felt on the palate, and the finish is compact. Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Enjoy or keep. (James Suckling 2023)

"Crushed red fruit, wild strawberry, sweet spices and pepper. Supple palate with notes of spicy red fruit, basil and pepper. A textured wine with taut, chalky tannins, good fleshy, concentrated fruit and a long, structured, slightly saline finish. A magnificent wine, elegant and full of life. It should age very nicely but also give pleasure in its youth." (Jancis Robinson 2022)

"A delicious, round, balanced white with notes of green pear, anise and warm herbs. Medium-bodied, it develops succulently on the palate. It has a positive bitterness with a delicate texture and an exciting touch of herbs on the finish. Good persistence." (James Suckling 2024)

"A rock star Côtes du Rhône" (Jeb Dunnuck) "

"A cuvée well known to our readers, adding a new line to its already impressive list of achievements. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan in equal parts have shaped this full-bodied, heady red. A year's ageing in barrel has added toasty nuances to a bouquet centered on macerated cherry and cocoa butter. This full-bodied character is reflected in a silky, concentrated palate, gently framed by ripe, chalky-grained tannins and mellow, spice-infused oak." (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

"Pure, racy Grenache

100% Grenache, racy and structured, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a velvety blend of black fruits and violets, enhanced by cinnamon and essences of maquis. Produced from old vines, the first of which were planted in 1912, it is a concentrate of richness that will sublimate a roast daguet or a brocket stew.

"With around 60% Roussanne, balanced by Grenache Blanc and Clairette, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Prestige offers subtle notes of honey and toast on the nose, then fills the palate with a lovely softness with hints of pineapple and tangerine. It's cleaner and more concentrated than the ripe, rounded 2018 vintage, but is it better? That depends on your personal preferences." (Wine Advocate 2019 - Joe Czerwinski) Unique emotion! Delivery in wooden case for any order of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).

A well-born Viognier with character, fresh but with the muscle of the in the bottle. Ideal as an aperitif or with a scallop and mesclun salad. A great starter!

"Almost always one of the finest Côtes du Rhône, this beauty comes from a small 2-hectare parcel of old vines, aged in foudre and produced in just under 3,600 units. Its bright crimson color is followed by an elegant, medium to full-bodied wine with classic aromas of black raspberry, berry fruit, spring flowers, licorice and saline minerality. It will easily become an extraordinary wine, and honestly, already shows a lot of similarity to the Cuvée Chaupin." (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker)

Both a rosé de presse and a rosé de saignée, this cuvée blends greediness and crispness in a single bottle. We love its fruitiness, freshness and lightness, making it a must-have for summer aperitifs. The latest addition to the domaine is very affordable!

"Even richer and more structured, but still fresh, pure and precise, Châteauneuf du Pape cuvée Prestige blanc 2013 is a blend of Roussanne and Grenache blanc. With no new barrels, it's a fleshy, rich, textured and decadent wine that delivers sublime notes of yellow fruit, brioche, white flowers and a subtle salinity that asserts itself more on the palate. This is one of the appellation's top 2-3 wines, not to be missed." (Wine Advocate 2014 - Robert Parker)

"Here's a shimmering Côte du Rhône, stirring up muted flavors of red and blue fruit tapenade and smoky spices over a framework of melted, supple tannins. The finish coherently echoes the red fruit! A slightly warm wine" (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2016 - Gault Millau)
