"Harmonious and appealing, this wine is a sure bet!"
A classic Châteauneuf, solid, well-made, and technically precise. It is complete, with ample ripe tannins, a firm and dense base of concentrated black fruit leading to a long finish. The wine is introspective and young, and will need time to harmonize. But it has the freshness, balance, and power necessary for long aging. A wine offering good value for money." (Decanter 2023)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2024 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
On the finest terroirs of Courthézon, the Domaine de la Janasse, the pride of the Sabon family, has been one of the appellation's leading names for over 40 years. Christophe Sabon produces Côtes-du-Rhône wines of the highest quality, with a rare depth. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are expressed in different vintages: Chaupin, from a cold terroir with a very Burgundian approach, or the Vieilles Vignes vintage, which is more sunny and racy. Finally, the whites, overshadowed by the reds, are just as recommendable. The entire range is impeccable and the great vintages are among the benchmarks of the appellation.

Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the estate:
A regular feature in the Guide, often highly ranked for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône, and IGP wines. A 90-hectare vineyard scattered across multiple plots, run by Christophe Sabon and his sister Isabelle, children of Aimé Sabon, who founded the estate in 1973. The estate was expanded in 2015 with the purchase of Clos Saint-Antonin and its 15 hectares of vines in the commune of Jonquières.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 93/100
Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About wine:
The nose is still a little tight, with good maturity and a very classic aromatic profile. The palate has good volume but is still a little rigid, supported by its tannins. We have no concerns about its positive development.
About the estate:
This large estate, which has belonged to the Sabon family for generations, is one of the elite properties in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape are mainly located in the commune of Courthézon, with a variety of plots and soils that are reflected in the different vintages. The estate also produces splendid Côtes-du-Rhône vintages (and in significant volumes) from vineyards adjacent to the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. With often very high levels of ripeness, the wines are opulent in style, sometimes a little too warm in sunny vintages. On the other hand, the tannins and textures are always very refined. In recent vintages, the wines have been less rich and slightly more digestible.

About wine:
Very rich nose of black fruits, garrigue, and licorice. The palate is dense and chewy, with lots of firm tannins. Fleshy and rich, with a savory note beneath the sweet black fruits. Young and raw, but with a long finish and good fruit concentration. It needs time.

About wine:
A full nose of red plums and candied oranges with notes of cinnamon and allspice. The palate is rich and full-bodied with lots of powdery tannins that develop gently into a long and moderately firm finish. A blend of 70% Grenache and 15% Syrah and Mourvèdre. Enjoy now or cellar.

About wine:
A blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and various other grape varieties, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape has a deeper ruby color and offers an incredible aroma of red and black fruits, floral incense, Provençal garrigue, and spices. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, with great elegance and ripe tannins, it is very much in the pure, elegant and consistent style of the vintage and has a lot to offer. Enjoy within the next 10 to 12 years.
