Domaine Paul Autard
In Courthézon, in the northern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, on the old family farm, the Autard family, incarnated by Jean-Paul Autard, perpetuates the work of past generations. The 25-hectare estate is built on a variety of terroirs made up of sand and rolled pebbles in geographically diverse locations, all of which contribute to the complexity of the wines. The main grape varieties are Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Muscardin for the reds, and Clairette, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc for the whites.

"Parcel selection

"Yes, the 2016 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Juline is fully oaky, but in this vintage it seems to work better than in 2015. Notes of cedar and fine leather accent the dark berries in this sumptuous, rich and velvety blend of Grenache and Syrah (50% each). It's full-bodied and concentrated, with cocoa and baking spices balanced by cola and plum, with just enough freshness on the finish to keep the wine eminently drinkable sip after sip." "Grenache and Syrah on sand and rounded pebbles are on the menu for this red wine, aged for many years in barrel. The nose, with its mix of black fruits, vanilla, orange and spices, is beautifully complex. The palate unfurls a consistent, full-bodied, fatty flesh, which respects the beautiful coated tannins that give relief and hold to a young but voluptuous whole. A nicely channeled power and controlled ageing for a wine that will go a long way". (Le Guide des Vins Hachette 2020)
