"Swirls of black raspberry ice cream and dark chocolate combine in Vignon's 2019 Gigondas [...]. Aged in large wooden vats, there are no apparent oak aromas or flavors, just the purity of the fruit from the old vines, creamy tannins, great concentration, and a bright, vibrant, and long finish. With its combination of intensity and tension, it should drink well for a decade or more." (Wine Advocate 2020)

About wine:
Swirls of black raspberry ice cream and dark chocolate combine in Vignon's 2019 Gigondas, a blend of 95% Grenache and 5% Mourvèdre from numerous small plots scattered throughout the appellation. Aged in large wooden vats, there are no apparent oak aromas or flavors, just the purity of the fruit from old vines, creamy tannins, great concentration, and a bright, vibrant, and long finish. With its combination of intensity and tension, it should drink well for a decade or more.

About wine:
Attractive on the palate with fairly firm tannins, lovely sweetness, and a round finish. There is a good level of freshness here that keeps it energetic and engaging. Needs a few years to settle in but will be enjoyable in the years to come. Best enjoyed between 2023 and 2028.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 92/100
About wine:
Deep, brilliant ruby red. Expressive aromas of ripe black fruit, cherry, and candied licorice are complemented by floral and smoky mineral notes. The flavors of black raspberry and bitter cherry are very clear and become sweeter as the wine opens up. The finish is juicy, taut, and long, with lingering notes of black fruit and spice. Harmonious tannins give it shape and good structure.

About wine:
The 2019 Gigondas offers a more reserved, medium-bodied, elegant style, with lovely notes of salty red and black fruits, peppery herbs, dried flowers, and an obvious minerality. Medium-bodied, elegant, refined and long on the palate, this is a beautiful wine that will benefit from an additional year in the bottle and will be enjoyable to drink for a decade.
