Domaine des Evigneaux
Domaine Les Évigneaux covers 10 hectares in Rasteau, a charming village in the southern Rhône Valley. This 12-parcel estate was created in 2014 by Benoit and Frédéric Lavau. They recognize an exceptional exposure for Syrah and Grenache in particular, to shape a cuvée delivering all the complexity and power of this cru. Perched on a hill facing the Dentelles de Montmirail, the rugged terrain of the Rasteau vineyards offers a wide variety of soils and a colorful landscape. From one terrace to the next, along the slopes, the soil changes from clay-limestone to blue marl, from pebbles to red marl.

With more than fifteen parcels spread over the entire Rasteau appellation, Domaine Les Evigneaux takes full advantage of the geological diversity that has made this Rhone Valley Cru so famous.

On the lower terraces, soils strewn with rolled pebbles are ideal for Grenache, giving wines with the warm, powerful profile typical of the southern Rhône Valley. On the slopes, poorer soils of clay-limestone, sometimes almost sandy, produce more subtle profiles, equally suited to Grenache and to the region's other emblematic grape varieties: Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan... The blending of these different profiles creates wines that are both powerful and complex, with finesse and elegance.

"Ready to drink, this juicy Rasteau is a real treat".

"Full, spicy nose with hints of smoked bacon and baked earth. Although endowed with good concentration, this Rasteau is not marked by power, with a fresh, elegant palate that finishes with a lovely interplay of fine tannins and mineral freshness." (James Suckling 2022).
