"Full, spicy nose with hints of smoked bacon and baked earth. Although endowed with good concentration, this Rasteau is not marked by power, with a fresh, elegant palate that finishes with a lovely interplay of fine tannins and mineral freshness." (James Suckling 2022).

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
This important wine merchant, for a long time willing to remain anonymous, vinifies skilfully for its many buyers and clients. Under the influence of the new generation, it no longer hides its identity, buying vineyards and producing classic, highly commendable wines.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2024) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
After managing the family estate - Ch. Maucoil in Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Bénédicte Bonnet spent nine years with the Lavau brothers' trading company. In 2014, she took over several estates, including Dom. les Évigneaux in Rasteau (12 ha), with the aim of highlighting certain little-known Rhone terroirs.

Wine Enthusiast
Rated wine (guide 2022) 92/100
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)
About the wine:
Salty notes of crushed earth and hints of clay accentuate the decadent flavors of blackberry and raspberry jam in this textured, balanced blend of grenache, syrah, carignan, mourvèdre and cinsault. A consistent overachiever among Rasteau wines, it demonstrates the complexity of this exciting cru terroir. At its peak now, the wine should mature through 2026.
James Suckling

About the wine:
Ample, spicy nose with hints of smoked bacon and terracotta. Despite its good concentration, this Rasteau is not marked by power, with a fresh, elegant palate that finishes with a lovely interplay of fine tannins and mineral freshness. A blend of Grenache and Syrah. For drinking or cellaring.

Score: 16/20

Full-bodied, ample and silky on the palate, with a strong intensity of infused black fruits, combined with vanilla and empyreumatic notes, generated by fine ageing in new oak barrels. Solid, mellow tannins and mellow tannins carry through to the powerful finish, energized by a chalky vivacity. It deserves a little ageing to optimize its great potential. Pair with a small roast of stuffed free-range guinea fowl, accompanied by trumpets of death and hash browns. Score = 4.
