"Marsanne concentrate

"The Saint Joseph Le Berceau Blanc 2022, made from old vines, is more restrained and mineral than the classic cuvée, with incredible salinity in its aromas and flavors of quince and stone fruit, subtle spices and white flowers. It needs air to show itself at its best. It's medium to full-bodied, structured and perfectly balanced on the palate, with integrated acidity and a sensationally long finish. This is an absolutely stunning white Saint Joseph that has nothing to envy the region's finest white wines. Give it a year or two and enjoy it over the next decade." (Jeb Dunnuck 2024)

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century, then settled in Mauves around 1850. An established name in the northern Rhône Valley, both for its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as witnessed by the numerous Favorites awards obtained in both appellations), the estate has been run since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, Bernard's son, who now heads 18 ha of vines.

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :

Fabrice Gripa continues his father's work at the only Mauves estate to produce as many whites as reds. And he masters his subject perfectly, delivering different cuvées with strong personalities. The whites are showcased in four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds are close to the fruit, with straightforwardness and admirable ageing management. A consistent estate of excellent quality.

Rated wine (guide 2023 ) 15.5/20

About the wine:

The nose presents a mix of stone and tropical fruits. The palate is full-bodied, with white flowers, the warmth of alcohol and a rich stone-fruit note. Truly broad, big and rich in style - to be enjoyed young.

About the wine:

Saint-Joseph Blanc Le Berceau 2022, 100% Marsanne, displays aromas of green apple, lemon zest, lime blossom and pear. Crisp and refined, it offers great freshness in a medium-bodied profile. Slightly less powerful than the Saint-Joseph Blanc of the same vintage, the 2022 Le Berceau is a little more vibrant.
