RVF
"The whites are of a very high standard (RVF)".
"A blend of Grenache gris (80%), Grenache blanc and Vermentino, this limpid, pale-yellow white reveals intense aromas of exotic fruit and brioche. These aromas are prolonged by a fresh, lively, delicate and long palate. A well-balanced wine to accompany a sea bass with fennel". (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Recently taken over, this estate covers some twenty hectares and is very modern, both in the construction of its wines and in its marketing approach, with "inspired" packaging and, above all, a boutique-bistro on the port of Banyuls that allows you to judge the products in situ. Nestling in the heart of the Roume valley, the winery houses grapes from seven parcels spread across the appellation's different terroirs, enabling complementary winemaking. While their marketing is very clever, in the vineyard the ancestral knowledge of cultivation is preserved, with the vines mostly trained in gobelet or stile.

About the domain :
Jacques Piriou and Romuald Peronne - the oenologist - joined forces to buy Dom. Saint-Sébastien in 2008, renamed Clos Saint-Sébastien in 2014 after the purchase of Clos Xatard. They entered the Guide through the front door with their Collioure cuvées. In Banyuls, they run a terraced restaurant facing the port, Le Jardin de Saint-Sébastien, and offer a boat trip to discover the 20 ha of their terraced vineyards by the sea. Their menu features exclusively Collioure and Banyuls wines.

This pretty Catalan white is as supple and full-bodied as it is fresh and invigorating, delivering a crisp juice based on a wide range of white and yellow-fleshed fruit, lime and floral notes, all enveloped by a touch of voluptuous fat. The structure, chiselled by the mineral imprint of the schist, brings freshness and a touch of lightness that lasts through an invigorating allongevity carried by the infuence of the sea. Fairly priced at €16.90, beyond that...A fine promise of pairings with Mediterranean products, from simple, delicious lemon-grilled sardines in a bbq, to the essential Tunisian couscous with fish. Rating = 4.1.

Vintage 2022. Corresponds well to the description. The 4/5 rating is due to the quality/price ratio, the price being a little too high; and to the complexity + length on the palate, which are a little weak.
