"This Collioure demonstrates the expertise of Élise Gaillard, who collects stars with her cuvées, and wins a Favorite with this white, made from a blend of Grenache gris (60%), Vermentino and Roussanne. Each grape variety plays its own part. The vermentino lends its freshness and the other two varieties their richness to this golden wine, with its intense, complex nose of honey cake, broom, orange blossom, candied citrus and the toasty note of barrel. The palate takes over well, tonic and iodized, yet full-bodied and round (the legacy of Grenache), with lovely notes of honey, gingerbread and candied orange. The wood is mellow and well-integrated. An ample, generous wine of rare balance". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated (2017 guide) 15.5/20 + Coup de Coeur (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (2017 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the wine:
Sappy, herbaceous nose of rose, boxwood and lemon. On the palate, honey and notes of cob clash, it's salivating and fat, beckoning lobster.
About the domain :
In 2002, Pierre Gaillard took over this multifaceted 29-hectare estate and applied revolutionary vine-growing methods for Banyuls, inspired by his work in Côte-Rôtie. Parcels close to the sea, open to the sea breezes, bring freshness to the whites and rosés, while those at the bottom of the valley, warmer, are better suited to the production of vins doux naturels. His daughter is now in charge of the estate.

About the domain :
Pierre Gaillard loves slopes and schists. A well-known producer in Côte Rôtie, he turned to Languedoc-Roussillon and became interested in Faugères, before buying Madeloc in Côte Vermeille in 2002. His daughter Élise, an agricultural engineer, runs the estate (approx. 18 ha) and vinifies with brio. On some slopes, winches are used, as in the Rhône Valley.

A fine cuvée, fairly rich but very easy to digest, with a long aniseed flavour.
