Dönnhoff
In the heart of the Nahe region, the Domaine Dönnhoff dates back to the 18th century. It was during the 20th century that the Domaine Dönnhoff has become a benchmark well beyond its borders. Today, the 4th generation is at the helm of the Domaine Dönnhoff. Cornelius Dönnhoff has been at the helm since 2007.

Domaine Dönnhoff covers 28 hectares, with 80% Riesling and 20% Pinot blanc and gris. The terroirs are mainly sandy and of volcanic rock, and the viticulture is integrated (grapes certified Fair'n Green, a holistic system of sustainable viticulture).

"Its terroir of grey slate gives it its name "Tonschiefer", and gives it an explosive minerality!"

"The subtle bouquet of Tonschiefer 2022 is fruity, mineral with notes of flint and yellow fruit. The wine is slightly salty at first, but has fullness and tension. It has plenty of tone on the palate and a structure that literally pushes it to the finish. The finish is salty, juicy and quite long. (Yves Beck 2023)

"A Riesling with an intense herbaceous character due to its proximity to the River Nahe!

"The climate at Roxheimer Höllenpfad is cooler and is generally harvested 4 to 5 days later than at Niederhausen. Red sandstone soils. The bouquet reveals freshness, minerality and fine nuances of pear and quince. The attack is fruity and slightly salty. A perfect symbiosis of charm and freshness! A welcoming, invigorating and persistent wine. It will be interesting to follow its development, but perhaps the real challenge will be to resist it" (Yves Beck 2023)

"An incredibly energetic Riesling, according to James Suckling!

"The Riesling Niederhäuser Klamm Kabinett 2022 rests on volcanic porphyry soils. This vineyard belonged to an extended family. It was bought out and is now vinified as a single site. The nose is serene citrus. The palate is rich like lemon oil, concentrated, fluid and appetizing. Lemon fills the mouth gently, but with inherent playfulness. All the fruits play the leading roles for now, but a mineral framework awaits its turn. The 2022 is glorious, balanced and brilliant". (Vinous 2023)

"Riesling from a volcanic German terroir that James Suckling says is "hard not to like"!

"Produced mainly from volcanic soils, Riesling Trocken 2021 is very clear, fresh and flinty with a precise, reductive nose that shows ripe but concentrated fruit with aromas of white peach and apricot. Light and very stimulating on the palate, this is a saline, crisp and grippy Riesling with juicy fruit and a mineral expression of Nahe." (Wine Advocate 2022). Screw cap

"Harvested a few days before the GG, the Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Auslese 2021 is made from very ripe Riesling grapes and opens with a clear, lemony, pure, fresh and finely concentrated bouquet with aromas of grapefruit, lime and slate. Pressed by the basket, it's a lush, generous Auslese, pure, saline and zesty, with a long, intense and very stimulating finish, with very fine bitters. The Hermannshöhle was harvested with the highest must weight and acidity levels, and represents the most complex and generous, but also the most precise Auslese of the vintage. 8% declared alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the estate in July 2022. (Wine Advocate 2022)
