Weingut Joh. Jos. Prüm
The estate Joh. Jos. Prüm is located in the Middle Moselle Valley, at around 50° latitude, one of the most northerly wine-growing areas in the world. The main consequence of this location is a very long vegetation period - sometimes lasting until December, with a relatively cold climate that enables Riesling to develop intense fruity, floral and herbal aromas, maintain high acidity and absorb the minerality of the slate soils.

The Joh. Jos. Prüm estate now comprises 20 hectares of vines. All Riesling, mainly old, ungrafted vines.

In the 19th century, the Prüm estate already had a very good reputation, until the death of Matthias, the last manager of the family estate. The vineyard was divided into 7 parcels, and in 1911 Johann Josef Prüm, one of Matthias's sons, bought the parcels from one of his brothers and created the Joh. Jos. Prüm estate.

In 1969, Johann Josef's grandson Manfred Prüm took over from his father Sebastian. He continued the family tradition of excellence.
Today, Manfred is accompanied by his daughter Katherina Prüm in the development of the estate, whose wines are renowned for their ageing capacity, freshness and complex, expressive character.

Joh. Jos. Prüm is a member of VDP. Die Prädikatweingüter, the prestigious association of Germany's best winegrowers.

"JJ Prum's Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett 2011 carries us towards scents of minty blackcurrant and golden apple. However, the sweetness of these notes is not apparent on the palate. Baked apple skin and grapefruit zest take over, leading to bittersweet flavors and a delicate finish. Greater complexity should emerge with time - and we can count on twenty years of very fine performance." (Wine Advocate 2013 - Robert Parker).

"Essences of pear and apple - interwoven with honeysuckle, lilac and apple blossom - characterize JJ Prum's Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese 2011. With a remarkable delicacy and a hint of wet stones, this cuvée combines fresh gourmet fruit with a kind of florality that memorably characterizes so many of the wines in this collection. The silky texture is counterbalanced by mineral notes as well as apple pips and skin. The finish is soothing and seductive. At least 30 years of pleasure." (Wine Advocate 2013 - Robert Parker).
