From the famous Laychen parcel, Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling GG Alte Reben 2017 is bright, clear, fine and relaxed on a subtly concentrated nose that displays perfectly ripe stone fruit aromas, interwoven with delicate slate notes. On the palate, this is a concentrated, lush, dynamic, crystalline, highly refined and complex Sonnenuhr with finely racy acidity, plenty of energy, grip and mineral tension. This is a rich, concentrated, powerful but still refined, dynamic and elegant Sonnenuhr that will improve over the years in bottle. Tasted in March and April 2019. I tasted the wine from the same bottle 11 days later, and it had opened up a lot.
