Domaine Kamm - Riesling Grand Cru Frankstein 2015
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"Hail struck Dambach-la-Ville hard in the spring of 2015, but the surviving shoots produced beautiful fruit, which was expertly vinified by these winemakers. An intense, green-gold color, a deep, complex and ripe nose, divided between elderflower and bergamot, a palate that is both voluminous and lively, built on an acidic and nervous line, reflecting the granite terroir, a long finish: a rare harmony." About wine:
Hail severely affected Dambach-la-Ville in the spring of 2015, but the surviving shoots produced beautiful fruit, which was expertly vinified by these winemakers. An intense, green-gold color, a deep, complex and ripe nose, divided between elderberry and bergamot, a palate that is both voluminous and lively, built on an acidic and nervous line, reflecting the granite terroir, a long finish: a rare harmony.
About the estate:
Founded in 1905, this estate now covers nearly 7 hectares around Dambach-la-Ville, an important fortified wine-growing village located between Barr and Sélestat. Like many Alsatian producers, Jean-Louis Kamm and his son Éric—who has been running the estate since 2005—took the plunge: in 2010, they began converting their vineyard to organic farming, which had previously been managed using integrated pest management.

A very fine wine, sapid and full-bodied on the palate. Good value for a grand cru.
