Marcel Deiss Estate
The Estate Marcel Deiss is a family estate of winegrowers established since 1744 in Bergheim, Alsace. Managed by the talented Jean-Michel Deiss, the Domaine Marcel Deiss operates 27 hectares of vines divided into 220 highly varied plots in the Alsace and Alsace Grand Cru appellations.

The vineyard Marcel Deiss is run biodynamically, using the ancient techniques of the Alsatian winegrowing tradition (complantation, ploughing, digging, composting, grassing), without weeding or chemical fertilizers. The emphasis is placed above all on the expression of terroirs, with the domaine working no fewer than 220 plots, all of which are planted with vines. Domaine terroir wines Marcel Deiss naturally bear the mark of these demands: these are wines that represent a return to the true age-old Alsatian tradition, a return to the golden age.

"The quintessence of Alsace, a fascinating, spellbinding cuvée of freshness and complexity of varied aromas".

"A nose of rhubarb and carambola in the exquisite Schoenenbourg, which deploys an almost crystalline freshness to exalt the streamlined richness of the cru: an already serene wine, which fascinates with the multiplicity of its nuances". (Le Guide RVF 2022). Quintessential Alsace!

"On the nose, powerful smoky and mineral nuances give great power and depth to the black fruit. On the palate, creamy, velvety, skilfully coated tannins confirm Mathieu Deiss's great expertise in this field. A little decanting reveals all the toasty, full-bodied finesse of this superb red terroir". (Le Guide Bettane + Desseauve)

The production of this nectar required many successive passes over the Gewurztraminer plots, in order to select only overripe grapes enriched with noble rot. This is a great sweet wine over which time has no hold. It evolves slowly, conferring grace and elegance on this 2006 vintage, which can easily be enjoyed until 2050 and beyond. It's an avalanche of citrus and exotic fruit, defined by an exceptional structure, which will go perfectly with foie gras!

"Stunning nose of the ripest apricots the world has ever seen! Also mango, candied orange and acacia honey. Very succulent, but just as vinous, the interplay of these two aspects creating an incredible mouthfeel. And underneath, actually below the waterline, there's a tremendous minerality that gives this wine breathtaking tension, and fuels the very long finish." (James Suckling 2022)

"An earthy, spicy pinot noir with a tannic structure and bright, mineral acidity that will give it decades of aging potential, but also makes it quite austere for now. I love the ginger note. Try to be patient, because this is the real McCoy! [...]" (James Suckling 2021)

"Great gastronomic wine, dry, spherical and very fatty".

"The Grand Cru Mambourg 2020 offers a beautifully clear and pure but also intensely aromatic nose on aromas of kumquat and bitter orange. On the palate, this is a saline, powerful, tight and concentrated as well as juicy Mambourg Pinot Gris with remarkable finesse and a certain texture and generosity that I don't find today in the 2019s and 2018s. At this stage, I really like it, and it's my favorite of the 2018-2020 trio [...]." (Wine Advocate 2023)

"Mythical village

"All the grapes for Ribeauvillé 2021 come from the hillside between Bergheim and Ribeauvillé. The soils are heavier, but contain elements of sandstone, marl, limestone and clay. It's a blend of Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Gris and Sylvaner, with smaller additions of other varieties. The nose is still a little yeasty, but is dominated by golden stone fruit, edged with citrus. The palate is bone-dry, with all the verve and freshness of 2021, but also a freshness inherent in a compact, linear body." (Vinous 2023)

"A blend of riesling, pinot gris and a little pinot blanc, Riquewihr 2021 was harvested along the Schoenenbourg grand cru, on the more exposed side of the Sporen grand cru, and in parcels towards Kientzheim. After some funky reduction has dissipated, bright candied lemon notes appear. The palate, on the other hand, is fuller and seems buffered and airy, with highly concentrated freshness, sweet fruit and a zesty, mouth-watering bitterness. The finish is bone-dry, with a hint of ginger." (Vinous 2023)

From the vineyards of Bergheim, Domaine Marcel Deiss's village, this beautiful white is a mosaic. The combination of 13 Alsatian grape varieties produces a shimmering wine with bright, warm colors. The nose is complex and aromatic, with hints of tropical fruit. It's a tender, sunny, full-bodied, vibrant wine that's a must-try!
