Marcel Deiss Estate
Domaine Marcel Deiss is a family-run winegrowing estate established in Bergheim, Alsace, in 1744. Managed by the talented Jean-Michel Deiss, Domaine Marcel Deiss manages 27 hectares of vines divided into 220 very different parcels in the Alsace and Alsace Grand Cru appellations.

The Marcel Deiss vineyard is managed biodynamically, using the ancient techniques of Alsace winegrowing tradition (complantation, ploughing, digging, composting, grassing), without weeding or chemical fertilizers. The emphasis is placed above all on the expression of terroirs, with the estate working no fewer than 220 plots, all of which are planted with vines. Domaine Marcel Deiss 's terroir-driven wines naturally bear the hallmark of these exacting standards: they are wines that reflect a return to the true age-old Alsatian tradition, a return to the golden age.

"Impressive depth of flesh! (RVF) "

"This wine from an unclassified lieu-dit is larger and more complex than many grand crus! Complex aromas of very ripe apricot, papaya, brioche and toast, with excellent structure and bright acidity behind the richness. The finish is long and very complete. A blend of riesling and pinot gris." (James Suckling 2023)

"The quintessence of Alsace, a fascinating, spellbinding cuvée of freshness and complexity of varied aromas".

"Powerful mineral nose, slightly austere. On the palate, the salinity vibrates, with a background of Corsican clementine and citron aromas. It will go a long way, but you'll have to be patient. It offers great density on the palate. With time, it should approach perfection, if not reach it". (Bettane+Desseauve)

"An impressive wine! (Wine Advocate) "

"Striking nose of toasted rye bread, forest honey, candied orange and dried Persian lemon. Full-bodied and powerful, yet graceful on the palate, with gigantic concentration and spice. There must be some natural sweetness from the grape, but it's lost in the cavernous space of this astonishing wine. It's just beginning to reveal its depth on the gigantic, incredibly complex finish. A blend of traditional grape varieties, with a focus on Riesling". (James Suckling 2023)

"The Burlenberg red shows advanced grape ripeness, which expresses itself in a tactile sensation of very subtle, grainy, crumbly tannins. Its velvety generosity enchants us". (Le Guide RVF 2025)

"A wine for laying down (Bettane+Desseauve)".

"His 2004 Altenberg de Bergheim glows with honey, lily, baking spices, orange liqueur and citrus zest. On the palate, the underlying density evokes minerality [...]. Candied citrus, orange liqueur and marmalade, peach jam, walnut paste, honey and vanilla, as well as the richness of the pastry and the texture of the butter give this wine a pastry character - if you just imagine chalk powders instead of flour. It finishes with remarkable lift and elegance for such a rich wine." (Wine Advocate)

"Powerful and elegant, reserved and charming, fruity and mineral... an oxymoron wine!"

"Remarkable nose of dried flowers and royal jelly in Burg, a solar wine that carries off its few sugars within a deep, full-bodied flesh of great dimensions". (Le Guide RVF 2024)

The production of this nectar required many successive passes over the Gewurztraminer plots, in order to select only overripe grapes enriched with noble rot. This is a great sweet wine over which time has no hold. It evolves slowly, conferring grace and elegance on this 2006 vintage, which can easily be enjoyed until 2050 and beyond. It's an avalanche of citrus and exotic fruit, defined by an exceptional structure, which will go perfectly with foie gras!

"An earthy, spicy pinot noir with a tannic structure and bright, mineral acidity that will give it decades of aging potential, but also makes it quite austere for now. I love the ginger note. Try to be patient, because this is the real McCoy! [...]" (James Suckling 2021)

"Great gastronomic wine, dry, spherical and very fatty".

"The Grand Cru Mambourg 2020 offers a beautifully clear and pure yet intensely aromatic nose of kumquat and bitter orange. On the palate, this is a saline, powerful, tight and concentrated as well as juicy Mambourg Pinot Gris with remarkable finesse and a certain texture and generosity that I don't find today in the 2019s and 2018s. At this stage, I really like it, and it's my favorite of the 2018-2020 trio [...]." (Wine Advocate 2023)

"Mythical village

"All the grapes for Ribeauvillé 2021 come from the hillside between Bergheim and Ribeauvillé. The soils are heavier, but contain elements of sandstone, marl, limestone and clay. It's a blend of Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Gris and Sylvaner, with smaller additions of other varieties. The nose is still a little yeasty, but is dominated by golden stone fruit, edged with citrus. The palate is bone-dry, with all the verve and freshness of 2021, but also a freshness inherent in a compact, linear body." (Vinous 2023)

"A blend of riesling, pinot gris and a little pinot blanc, Riquewihr 2021 was harvested along the Schoenenbourg grand cru, on the more exposed side of the Sporen grand cru, and in parcels towards Kientzheim. After some funky reduction has dissipated, bright candied lemon notes appear. The palate, on the other hand, is fuller and seems buffered and airy, with highly concentrated freshness, sweet fruit and a zesty, mouth-watering bitterness. The finish is bone-dry, with a hint of ginger." (Vinous 2023)

From the vineyards of Bergheim, Domaine Marcel Deiss's village, this beautiful white is a mosaic. The combination of 13 Alsatian grape varieties produces a shimmering wine with warm, bright colors. The nose is complex and aromatic, with hints of tropical fruit. It's a tender, sunny, full-bodied, vibrant wine that's a must-try!

"A ripe set of orchard fruits with a rather rich, assertive mineral edge. The palate is supple, juicy and attractively fresh, with many concentrated, rich aromas of yellow fruit, and a very intense, fresh and precise finish. The wine becomes dry. Impressive.
