Beaujolais-Leynes

Beaujolais-Leynes
The Beaujolais-Leynes appellation d'origine contrôlée is an offshoot of the AOC Beaujolais-Villages, a regional appellation recognized since 1950. It was the first appellation in France to use the term "villages". Its vineyards cover some 6,200 hectares, and include the 38 communes that are entitled to the Beaujolais-Villages appellation thanks to the specificity of their terroir.

In the southern part of the Beaujolais vineyards, the soils are clay-limestone, dating from the secondary era. Further north, the soils are made up of alluvial deposits from the Tertiary and Quaternary eras. The only grape variety used is, of course, Gamay noir à jus blanc. The Beaujolais-Leynes appellation is located in the extreme north of the Beaujolais region.

Situated in the immediate vicinity of the Roche de Solutré and the village of Fuissé, the commune of Leynes has a number of special features that enable the red wines produced there to claim the Beaujolais-Leynes appellation. Domaine de la Soufrandière is a fine example of this appellation, and an ideal place to discover all its qualities.

The Bret brothers produce this cuvée on a magnificent terroir: the sloping (25%), south-facing Leynes hillside. Produced from old Gamay vines with small berries (40 to 60 years old), it offers plenty of fruit. A magnificent Beaujolais, shaped to perfection. Enjoy it now!
