Jean-Marc Lafont - Domaine de Bel-Air
Jean-Marc Lafont and his wife Annick took over the destiny of the Domaine de Bel-Air in 1985, making highly expressive wines that are the fruit of a perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Since 1996, Jean-Marc Lafont has also been selecting wines from the Beaujolais and Mâconnaise appellations.

All the vines, with an average age of 40 years, have been planted at a density of 9 to 10,000 vines per hectare, combined with short pruning to get the best out of the Gamay grape variety. Since 1995, the vineyards have been managed using the "lutte raisonnée" method, an environmentally-friendly technique that produces more natural wines. The terroirs are located on slopes with gradients ranging from 20 to 38%, making mechanization virtually impossible. Harvesting, also by hand, takes place over a fortnight, depending on the maturity of the terroir.

Each of Jean-Marc Lafont 's terroirs is vinified in small-capacity vats, to obtain homogeneous, typical cuvées that are blended according to their originality and structure. The only concession made to progress is temperature control, to preserve the original aromas of our terroirs.

"Richness, power and balance!"

"A cuvée from a terroir of just over 1 ha, where granitic sands and disintegrated manganese blend together. The vines here are around 50 years old. Jean-Marc Lafont has partially destemmed the grapes and mixed barrel and tank ageing. An undeniable success, this moulin-à-vent seduces with a nose that subtly combines raspberry, blackcurrant and floral notes, followed by richness on the palate, power, balance and silky tannins". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

"A pure delight!

A very fruity Fleurie with notes of morello cherry, peony and a hint of menthol. On the palate, youth expresses itself delicately, with notes of warm spices mingling with cherries and a lovely freshness. Pure indulgence!

"Complex notes of blackcurrant and blackberry enhanced by spices (Hachette)".

"The Lafont family farms no less than 8 ha of this locality, located at the easternmost tip of the appellation. The grapes are partially de-stemmed before vatting, delivering a cuvée with complex notes of blackcurrant and blackberry enhanced by spices. This concentration is confirmed by an ample, structured, harmonious and long-lasting palate". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

Note du Guide Hachette des Vins: 3***(Exceptional wine) + Coup de Coeur
"An exceptional Côte du Py, from a 3-hectare plot of fifty-year-old vines, harvested late (September 28) to obtain the ripest grapes possible. Behind its intense violet color lies a delicious, fine bouquet of sweet spices and black fruits. The palate is magnificent, both robust and soft, rich and long, underpinned by fine, silky tannins that give it great elegance. A Morgon of noble extraction, to be served with a capon this winter or in three years, and more. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014)
