Château Haut-Prieur
Château Haut-Prieur has been a family estate for over 150 years, comprising 8 hectares of vines in a single block, located in the Premières Côtes de Blaye region of Bordeaux. The Château Haut-Prieur vineyard stretches over a clay-limestone hillside with superb southern exposure, overlooking the river. The single plot, where the average age of the vines is close to 40 years, with the oldest reaching 60 years, is planted with Merlot and Malbec, a grape variety wrongly abandoned in the region for several generations. These two grape varieties, which flourish wonderfully on this limestone terroir, give Château Haut-Prieur its deep color and spicy aromas, while the other adds roundness, smoothness and finesse to this great wine.

For several years now, under the guidance of Christian Veyry, oenologist at the Michel Rolland laboratory, the owners of Château Haut-Prieur have been cultivating this excellent terroir using the "lutte raisonnée" method, with plot-by-plot selections, severe pruning, leaf thinning and green harvesting to reduce yields and improve grape quality. His advice on vinification and ageing results in highly colored, rich, concentrated wines, with a nose of black fruit, but still round and with silky tannins. An ensemble much appreciated by connoisseurs.

This very attractive Blaye develops a fine aromatic palette, with notes of ripe red fruit, spicy nuances and a hint of cocoa. A supple, round, well-balanced red with a solid structure. The perfect companion for lamb chops, pan-fried or grilled to taste!
