"A brilliant vintage, full of liveliness!"

2008 was a vintage with capricious weather, alternating between heat and cold, including a frost in April that just managed to lighten the load of grapes at Yquem. This was followed by a cold, dry period in September, leading to slow ripening of the Sémillons, which revealed an undeniable aromatic purity. This happy alchemy resulted in a wine with a beautiful purity of flavor. Designation

Cérons

Region

Bordeaux

Grape varieties

90% Sémillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc, 2% Muscadelle

Terroirs

Clay-gravel soils, limestone subsoils with marine asters. The nature of the soil on the limestone bedrock of Cérons gives it a beautiful acidity that perfectly balances its concentration.

Viticulture

Agro-environmental approach

Grape harvest

Exclusively manual, through successive sorting. The grapes are picked after over-ripening and gradual invasion by Botrytis Cinerea, a fungus responsible for the natural concentration of the grapes (noble rot). The botrytized berries are mainly harvested at the "pourri rôti" stage in order to achieve the aromatic balance and freshness characteristic of Cérons wines.

Wine making

Very slow pressing of botrytized grapes and fermentation in barrels

Livestock farming

Aged in barrels for 18 months

Alcohol content

13,5%

Residual sugars

Approximately 75 g/l g/l

Eye

Attractive, deep straw yellow color, clear and bright with golden highlights.

Nose

A nose with notes of honey, ginger, and dried apricot, hints of candied lemon and papaya.

Mouth

A rich attack, with notes of date paste, honey, and orange peel characteristic of the mineral terroir of Cérons. The nature of the soil on the limestone bedrock of Cérons gives it a beautiful acidity that perfectly balances its concentration. The wine is very taut and airy, with elegant and refined aromas of acacia, honey, and passion fruit. Beautiful concentration and lots of energy.
