"With its magnificent texture, this is one of the best vintages I can remember tasting! ~ Vinous "

"Château Chantegrive's top-of-the-range white. A combination of white flower aromas and hints of verbena. Full-bodied, with a hint of vanilla. Finishes with pink grapefruit and lime. Measured liveliness. A balance between measured tension and fullness. A gastronomic wine". (Bettane & Desseauve 2020) - A must-have white wine in Bordeaux!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

Long considered one of the appellation's flagship estates, this very large property in southern Graves belongs to the Levêque family, also renowned Bordeaux brokers. It is now followed by Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus), who produces a very typical wine, both red and white, destined for great success. Both red and white wines are highly expressive, finely aromatic, rather refined and well-balanced. Cuvée Caroline, the estate's flagship cuvée, is rich yet elegant.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

Created ex nihilo in 1967 by wine broker Henri Lévêque, this cru, which originally covered 2 ha, is now a fine unit of almost 100 ha (HVE3 certified), run today by the founder's daughter, Marie-Hélène Lévêque, advised since 2006 by Hubert de Boüard. An established name in Graves, with numerous Favorites awards to her credit.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

An emblematic estate in Podensac, in the heart of the Graves appellation, Chantegrive was created by Henri Lévêque. This historic Bordeaux wine broker began the adventure in 1966, with just two hectares of vines. Long a pioneer in the production of ambitious wines, Chantegrive entered a slump in the early 2000s. The château, taken in hand by Marie-Hélène Lévêque with Hubert de Boüard's advice since 2006, is now producing wines that are once again among the appellation's finest references. Launched in 2020, the Les Oiseaux range gives a smartly modern and playful image of Graves wines.

Rated wine (guide 2022) 92/100

About the wine:

Cuvée Caroline 2020 is rich, full-bodied and creamy. Vinification in barrel, with stirring on the lees, brings out a magnificent texture. This is one of the best vintages I can remember tasting. Candied lime, apricot, white flowers and a hint of spice develop into a resonant finish. 2023-2028

Rated wine (guide 2022) 92/100

About the wine:

Aged for 9 months in barrels (50% new, 50% single-vineyard), Cuvée Caroline has a yield of just 20hl/ha. Its complex bouquet reveals hints of dried apricots, orange zest and lemons. Good density, depth and a touch of salt on the finish. Juicy, persistent finish. 2023-2032

Vert de Vin

Vert de Vin

Rated wine (guide 2021) 92/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity, offering freshness, a fine crispness and a certain complexity. Notes of green apple, fleshy nectarine and, to a lesser extent, quince are combined with hints of toastiness and fine hints of yuzu, zest and almond. Fruity on the palate, with freshness, minerality and good definition, as well as a fine saline edge, greediness, roundness, length and good structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy apple, crushed nectarine and, more lightly, lychee, combined with hints of yuzu, toasted oak and peach blossom, fleshy berries, fine hints of almond and a subtle hint of iodine (in the background). Good length.
