Château Cantemerle
Château Cantemerle is located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, on deep, fine gravel in the communes of Macau and Ludon, near Bordeaux. The vineyards of Château Cantemerle, a Grand Cru Classé, are subject to multiple influences, producing complex, balanced and refined wines that reflect their exceptional terroir.

Château Cantemerle 's soil is siliceous-gravelly. These gravels, the result of ancient erosion of the Pyrenees by the Garonne, are one of the key elements of a quality terroir. The soil is poor, and the vines need to "suffer" to produce concentrated grapes. Moreover, this sandy, pebbly soil is highly filtering and plays an active role in ripening the grapes, reflecting the sun's rays and retaining the heat accumulated during the day at night. The 87-hectare Château Cantemerle vineyard is mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with the addition of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Made mainly from young vines, Les Allées de Cantemerle is the second wine of Château Cantemerle, aged like its elder brother.

"A Haut-Médoc bestseller!

"Delicate cocoa aromas, depth of black fruit, elegant nose. For his last vintage at the helm of Cantemerle, Philippe Dambrine has produced a very pretty wine, very mocha-colored, creamy, built around a juicy mouth, set with racy tannins and very controlled ageing". (Terre de Vins 2021) - This Médoc Grand Cru Classé is one of the most accessible. It's a best-seller to keep in your cellar! - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

"An unrivalled price-pleasure ratio for a Grand Cru Classé!

"A fine success, very open, silky, long, refined, artistic, and deserving of the best success, especially as the prices remain really reasonable. We'll be able to start drinking it in 6 to 7 years, as its native delicacy already makes it almost ready to drink." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve 2021) A typical Haut-Médoc Grand Cru Classé built to last! - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

"A cellar essential with charm and delicacy".

"As usual, Cantemerle is all about subtlety. The bouquet is elegant and inviting, with floral and fruity notes. Nuances of peony and blackcurrant. Juicy, suave character on the palate. This sweetness is pleasant and counteracts well the tight, compact character of the tannins. Nice fruity intensity on the finish, with a touch of candied fruit". (Yves Beck 2020) - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

"Immediate pleasure

"You just have to wait a few moments for the blackcurrant aromas and fine oak to reveal themselves on aeration. The dense tannins are still present and a certain freshness remains on the palate, but these are only signs of youth. An authentic, unadorned wine," concludes one taster. (Guide Hachette des Vins - 2020) - All finesse, this is a real invitation to the 1st wine!

"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cantemerle sports plenty of oak, herbs and freshly tilled soil over a core of black currants and baked plums, as well as hints of pencil lead and grilled meat. The palate is medium-bodied, firm and grainy with lovely freshness and length." (Wine Advocate 2020) Delivered in wooden cases for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery).

"Impressive richness and clarity of red and black berries. Slightly spicy pastry aromas too. The palate has a very crisp, polished and neat tannin texture, as well as super-fresh flavors that last a long time. A very good wine. Enjoy from 2022." (James Suckling 2018) A bottle that marries fullness and delicacy, without giving way to heaviness or woodiness. It's the epitome of perfect Bordeaux balance. "Another very successful vintage from this estate. The structure of this wine is so fine that you notice the blackberry notes more than the tannins, thanks to this precise acidity like a seam that offers a mouth full of lace." (Wine Enthusiast) An impression of charm and delicacy in a subtle register of ripe fruit, fresh wood and tobacco that will improve with age. "Beautiful generosity of texture, ripe fruit (licorice), fleshy tannin, easy to understand." For this 2014 vintage, Les Allées de Cantermerle continues in the tradition of supple, elegant Médoc wines to be drunk young. This delicate wine is best appreciated in the freshness of its subtle aromas of coffee and wild flowers. An excellent second!

"Four grape varieties enter into the blend of this 2014: 56% Cabernet (mainly Cabernet Sauvignon), 38% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot. The wine's deep, brilliant color immediately catches the eye. Expressive, harmonious and subtle, the bouquet blends the scents of multiple ripe red and black fruits with those of elegant vanilla and toasty oak, nuanced with a touch of leather. Supported by this serious woodiness, the palate offers beautifully precise aromas and flavors, with an appreciable length." "A very successful and elegant 2011, Cantemerle has produced a wine of fine style in a ruby/purple color, with notes of flowers, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry. Endowed with great quality and purity, this medium-bodied wine has soft tannins and a gradually building texture. It should be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years. (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker). "Very elegant in its ruby color, this wine develops a beautiful bouquet that blends red fruits with a sweet woody, cocoa-like note. A racy woodiness that is reflected in a sappy, fleshy palate, supported by firm, tight tannins that are still a little strict on the finish. Of course, you'll have to wait and see". "Readers looking for the elegant side of Bordeaux need look no further. Dense ruby/purple (almost opaque), this wine offers notes of pencil shavings, spring flowers, raspberry and black cherry. The wine is ethereal, medium-bodied, long and intellectual. The tannins are present, and it's certainly capable of fleshing out over time. Give it 3-4 years in bottle and drink it over the next 25."
