"The 2018 Les Cruzelles is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with 40% new oak and 14.5% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple in color, it bursts from the glass with dynamic scents of crushed blackberries, juicy black cherries and ripe plums, as well as hints of menthol, dark chocolate and star anise. The medium- to full-bodied palate offers black fruits on the palate, soft texture and great freshness, finishing long and lively." (Wine Advocate 2021). A real pleasure!

Rated 16/20 (Very good wine)

3*Star rating (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Refined flesh, with a slender juice and great consistency in balance.

About the domain :

Denis Durantou is one of the great stylists of the Right Bank. Here, on 10 hectares, he applies the same care as at his flagship Pomerol estate, Eglise Clinet. This cru is one of Lalande's finest, with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Floral, spicy and silky, we love the perfectly calibrated, coated and persistent tannins. At 25 euros, it's great value for money.

In a style that appeals to everyone, with notes of warm plums and candied cherries at the heart and a light frame of toasted vanilla.

About the wine:

The 2018 Les Cruzelles comes from clay-gravel soil, with the Merlot harvested from September 18 to 25 and the Cabernet Franc on September 28, and is aged in 40% new oak. It has a more opulent, higher-toned bouquet than La Chenade, offering expressive blueberry and blackcurrant fruit and becoming more floral in the glass, with iris and violet appearing. The palate is medium-bodied, with succulent tannins that give weight and concentration to this exceptional Lalande de Pomerol. The lingering, spicy finish is remarkably weighty, elegant and impressively precise. Please tell me you bought this wine when it went on sale earlier this year!

About the wine:

A pretty, supple wine, offering aromas of cherry, berry and lightly stewed fruit with hints of chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied, with round tannins and a juicy finish. Already delicious. For drinking or cellaring.
