The 2018 Les Cruzelles is composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with 40% new oak and 14.5% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple in color, it bursts from the glass with dynamic aromas of crushed blackberries, juicy black cherries, and ripe plums, along with notes of menthol, dark chocolate, and star anise. The medium-bodied to full-bodied palate offers black fruit flavors, a smooth texture, and great freshness, ending with a long, lively finish. (Wine Advocate 2021). A real pleasure!

Wine rated 16/20 (Very good wine)

3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

Refined flesh, with a slender juice and great consistency in terms of balance.

About the estate:

Denis Durantou is one of the great winemakers of the right bank. Here, he brings the same care to his 10 hectares as he does to his flagship estate in Pomerol, Eglise Clinet. This wine is one of Lalande's finest, with a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Floral, spicy, and silky, we love its perfectly balanced, persistent, and well-integrated tannins. At €25, it offers excellent value for money.

About wine:

The 2018 Les Cruzelles comes from clay-gravel soil, with Merlot harvested from September 18 to 25 and Cabernet Franc on September 28, and is aged in 40% new oak. It has a more opulent bouquet and higher tone than La Chenade, offering expressive blueberry and blackcurrant fruit and becoming more floral in the glass, with iris and violet appearing. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins that give weight and concentration to this exceptional Lalande de Pomerol. The lingering, spicy finish is remarkably weighty and elegant with impressive precision. Please tell me you bought this wine when it went on sale earlier this year!

About wine:

A lovely, supple wine offering aromas of cherry, berries, and slightly stewed fruit with hints of chocolate and coffee. It is medium-bodied with round tannins and a juicy finish. Already delicious. Drink now or cellar.
