Bettane & Desseauve
"This vintage continues its ascent and offers great value for money! ~ Bettane & Desseauve "
"This wine is wonderfully perfumed with blackcurrant and floral aromas that carry through to a medium to full body. The tannins are very well integrated and carry through to the finish. Bright and lively. One of the best Dauzacs of all time". Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
The vintage continues its ascent: a very Labarde character, firmer than a classic Margaux, more cedar in the Medoc sense and Cabernet Sauvignon, and a body a little better immediately defined than some of its peers. Impeccable corks. Great value for money for a peak around 2031.
About the domain :
Immediately adjacent to Giscours and Siran in terms of the location of its vineyards, this fifth growth classified in 1855 had belonged since 1988 to MAIF, which sold it in early 2019 to the Breton Samsic group, headed by Christian Roulleau. The remarkable technical team remains in place around Philippe Roux and Laurent Fortin, setting an example in many respects; they have made major efforts to renovate the premises, with great respect for the environment, and to modernize the technical buildings, complemented by a level of viticulture and vinification that we'd like to see more of. The latest vintages have produced complete wines, acclaimed by the critics: a powerful, harmonious grand vin and two second wines, aurore, close to the style of the first, and la-bastide, more supple.

Domaine noté (guide 2021) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the wine:
A sure thing in the appellation, this cru lives up to its reputation with this beautiful deep purple wine, with complex aromas of spices, graphite, liquorice and smoke. A strong personality that is also expressed by a full, rich palate, with firm tannins that are even a little harsh on the finish. Please be patient. 2026-2032
About the domain :
After its glory days in the 19th century, this cru fell into lethargy in the first half of the 20th century, before being reborn thanks to the Miailhe family, who came from Siran, the Châtelier family, who arrived from Champagne, and finally, in 1989, to MAIF, who entrusted management to André Lurton in 1992. The latter's daughter, Christine Lurton Bazin de Caix, ran the estate between 2005 and 2013. Laurent Fortin replaced her, and in 2014 André Lurton sold his stake to MAIF. The vineyard covers 45 hectares in a single block.

Wine rated (guide 2022) 94/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
It confirms its good dispositions. The wine is full-bodied, but also juicy, carried by beautiful fruit and finely coated with wood. A peppery touch marks the finish.
About the domain :
The cru has been solidly in the running for several vintages now. Laurent Fortin, the cru's director since 2014, is multiplying initiatives, experimenting and expanding the range. He has succeeded in giving new impetus to the cru, which can now be classed as a sure bet. Now in the hands of the Roulleau family, the cru is set to make further progress, with a highly advanced approach to vine cultivation.

Rated wine (guide 2022) 95/100
About the wine:
This wine is wonderfully perfumed, with blackcurrant and floral aromas that follow through to a medium to full body. The tannins are very well integrated and carry through to the finish. Bright and lively. One of the best Dauzacs of all time. 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot. Best after 2026.
Terre de Vins
Wine rated (2020 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
The nose is very expressive with fig, cedar and large black cherry. The attack is very rich, it's a ball of freshness, the fruit fills the mouth, the tannins work broadly for a toasty finish with soft vanilla notes. A lot of pleasure.
Vert de Vin
Rated wine (guide 2022) 95-96/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is elegant, offering complexity, a certain controlled concentration and precision in its construction. Notes of creamy blackcurrant, full-bodied wild strawberry and a hint of violet are combined with hints of crushed raspberry, licorice, caramelization, blueberry, tea, a touch of chocolate, blue plum and a discreet hint of vanilla. Fruity on the palate, with minerality, freshness, juiciness, definition, suavity, greediness, fine acidity and an airy approach. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of bright boysenberry, crushed raspberry and, more lightly, pulpy cherry, combined with hints of blueberry, fresh/juicy blueberry, delicate hints of racy/gravelly minerality and subtle sapid hints of pepper and sweet blond tobacco. A lovely definition of pulpy/clamorous/acidulated fruit. The tannins are precise and offer a fine mellowness. Good length. A little chewiness on the finish/persistence. Good length (13 caudalies). Sincerity, purity and sapidity in this lovely wine.
