"You can feel the warmth of summer in the texture and character of the fruit here, which has been extremely well managed, and there's a sense of elevation alongside Magrez's characteristic glamour. The plush plum aromas demonstrate its ambition and sense of forward motion, with a touch of oak. It takes its time and is mellow on the finish". Domaine noté Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Deep garnet-purple in color, Grands Chênes 2018 bursts from the glass with exuberant notes of baked black plums, warm cassis and boysenberries, along with suggestions of pencil shavings, wild sage and crushed stone. The medium- to full-bodied palate is packed with energetic, crisp black fruits, supported by fine-grained tannins and tons of freshness, and finishes with irresistible herbaceous strength.

Domaine noté (guide 2017) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and that, as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
This property in the northern Médoc, taken over by Bernard Magrez in 1998, has always produced solid, straightforward wines. They are vinified in the same spirit as all the group's properties, and express richness, power and concentration, on an imposing woody base, while preserving a pleasant freshness on the finish. Enthusiasts of this style of demonstrative wine will be delighted.

About the wine:
Blackberry and cassis on the nose, with cloves, damp earth and a touch of orange zest. Medium-bodied, with firm, elegant tannins. Beautifully precise and evolving, with notes of spice and nuts coming through on the finish. To be tried from 2024.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2020 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
The style has definitely changed! Inviting bouquet marked by raspberry and blackberry notes. Crisp, well-balanced character on the palate. The wine is juicy and supported by tight but well-integrated tannins. A wine that deserves a little cellaring. 2023-2036
Vert de Vin
Rated wine (2019 guide) 90/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is aromatic. There are notes of blackberry, flowers (violet, peony) and, to a lesser extent, crushed blackcurrant, combined with fine hints of licorice and chocolate. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers good definition, a lovely mineral structure, fine grain, deliciousness, elegance and a lovely touch. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of crushed blackcurrant, fleshy strawberry and, more lightly, small fleshy/crushed red berries, combined with fine hints of blackberry, violet, licorice, toast and an imperceptible hint of vanilla/chocolate (in the background). Good length. Well-balanced, fine tannins.
The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 91/100
About the wine:
Round, lush, juicy, sweet and fresh, ripe cherries come through loud and clear. The oak is close to full integration, now you find smoke, flowers, earth and licorice with a touch of espresso to accompany all the ripe, delicate fruit. This is one of the best vintages of Les Grands Chênes. The wine is made from 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Out of 16 bottles purchased, 2 were very good and in line with what we had tasted before ordering in bulk, the rest were sour and undrinkable.
