Clos Manou
Clos Manou is owned by Françoise and Stéphane Dief, two enthusiasts who vinified their first vintage in 1998. In 15 years, the vineyard has grown from 12 acres to 18 hectares, with a philosophy: produce the best, emphasize quality at all costs, both in the vines and in the wine; always seek a balance between all the ingredients that make up the winegrower's craft; know how to draw on tradition as well as modernity.

Three terroirs, each with its own distinct but complementary style, make up equal parts of the vineyard. Clos Manou Our vineyards are planted on three types of soil: deep gravel on clay bordering the Gironde estuary, sandy gravel on lower slopes, and clay on limestone in the commune of Couqueques. The vines are cultivated according to the precepts of organic farming, with careful, reasoned care. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified at low temperature; extractions are made by pumping over in the concrete vat room and only by manual punching down in the wooden vat room.

Clos Manou is aged for 17 months in new barrels made exclusively from wood from France, and the second cuvée, Petit Manou, for 12 months in the same barrels used for the first wine.

"A talented equilibrist who sails between maturity and freshness. Irresistible!"

"This renowned cru has once again distinguished itself with this very fine 2020, which has benefited from the utmost care and attention, with a complex ageing process combining barrel, concrete egg and dolia (earthenware jar). A deep color tending towards black, a greedy, tasty nose evoking chocolate, cloves, menthol and very ripe black fruits, the approach is engaging. What follows is equally profound: great density, volume, powerful yet mellow tannins, explosive fruit well blended with wood, a very long finish that brings back freshness and energy. A great Medoc for ageing. (Le Guide Hachette 2024) - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).
