"Beautiful notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and light licorice set the pace for a full palate, with present, velvety-smooth tannins that take their time in a very fragrant, long finish. A rich, straightforward wine with a wonderful texture. A success for the estate. (James Suckling). Château Lynch-Moussas
Pauillac
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated (2020 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Philippe Castéja has worked hard to restore a superb family estate in the Pauillac hinterland. The aging of the vines and the construction of a high-performance work tool enable him to produce a supple, fleshy wine that is constantly improving. Its terroir enables it to open up before most of the wines in its appellation, which should make it more present on restaurant menus, with good value for money.

About the wine:
While several crus can be traced back to the Lynch family, it was at Lynch-Moussas that Michel Lynch died, in 1844. Owned by the Castéja family since the end of the First World War, this cru is recommended by Denis Dubourdieu. Well constituted, with round, ample tannins, this wine is well equipped to benefit from four to five years' cellaring. The wood does not mask the fruit, which manifests itself in a host of aromatic notes: ripe fruit, gingerbread, grapes, etc. Both fine and powerful, the whole is of very high quality.
About the domain :
Owned since the 18th century by Count Lynch, until it was divided in two, giving Lynch Moussas and Lynch-Bages. Émile Castéja, who joined the family in 1919, took over the estate in 1969 and restructured the vines and winery. His son Philippe has been at the helm of this 35-hectare cru, close to Batailley, also owned by the Castéja family, since 2001.

Wine rated (2007 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Domain rated (guide 2020) Selected (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the domains that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
For several years now, Philippe Castéja has been giving new impetus to this classified growth. Oenologist Denis Dubourdieu has carried out extensive work on the estate, starting with the reorganization of the vineyard. Over the last few vintages, the wines have progressed and the château benefits from technical facilities that should enable it to go even further. Lynch-Moussas produces a relatively fine, medium-bodied wine that can be drunk fairly quickly.

Fully matured. Woody, ripe fruit on the nose, smooth on the palate with well-melted tannins. A delight with prime rib.
