"Aromas of dried currants, blackberries, violets, licorice, and chocolate-covered orange. A hint of vanilla too. It is full-bodied with firm, powdery tannins. Fantastic concentration and depth of fruit. (James Suckling 2021) - Delivery in wooden crates for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).

Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About wine:

The 2018 vintage is already very appealing, with a creamy, juicy palate. It will age beautifully.

About the estate:

This estate owned by Philippe Casteja is one of the great classics of Pomerol. It benefits from the same technical expertise as its big brother, Château Domaine de l'Église. The wines age with elegance and classicism. The latest vintages are of a good standard. We recommend it for its reliability and excellent value for money.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2019 guide) 90/100

About wine:

This is a wine to watch out for—a deep ruby color and aromas of caramel alongside sweet red fruits and brambles. On the mid-palate, it gains weight across the palate. This is the result of extremely gentle vinification, with low temperatures of 26°C instead of the usual 28°C, and a sandy-clay terroir close to Château Taillefer. Drinking window: 2024–2035.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About the estate:

Grown on sandy-gravelly soil, composed of 93% Merlot and a dash of Cabernet Franc, this superb 2016 vintage, with its deep color adorned with purple highlights, offers an intense nose of candied fruit, spices, and toasted notes. The palate is full-bodied and persistent, also focused on spicy fruits, revealing a rich texture structured by rich tannins that guarantee a happy evolution.

About the estate:

The estate produces a supple and very flavorful Pomerol, with a strong truffle bouquet reminiscent of Clinet, at a much more affordable price. Its vineyard, located on sandy-gravelly soils, is excellent.

About wine:

The flavors of infused blackcurrant, fig paste, and cherry reduction have a rich and caressing sensation, while black tea and incense add range and intrigue to the finish.
