"The color is ruby. The nose is red fruit (redcurrant, blackcurrant buds) and slightly woody. The attack is silky with a balanced, full mid-palate. The finish is soft, more or less long without bitterness." (La Croix du Casse Estate 2019)

Château La Croix du Casse
Pomerol
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
Philippe Casteja's estate is one of Pomerol's great classics. It benefits from the same technical care as its big brother, Château du Domaine de l'Église. The wines age with elegance and classicism. Recent vintages have been of a high standard. We recommend it for its reliability and excellent value for money.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the domain :
From a sandy-gravel terroir, composed of 93% Merlot and a pinch of Cabernet Franc, this superb 2016, with its deep color and purple highlights, presents an intense nose of candied fruit, spices and toasty notes. Full-bodied and persistent on the palate, also centered on spicy fruit, it reveals a fleshy texture, structured by rich tannins that guarantee a happy evolution.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated domain (2009 guide) City
About the domain :
The estate produces a supple, very flavorful Pomerol, with a strong truffle bouquet reminiscent of Clinet, at a much more affordable price. Its vineyards on sandy-gravel soils are excellent.
