Château Le Gay
Château le Gay, owned by the Robin daughters for sixty years, produced an 8-hectare wine known to the most demanding connoisseurs. Thérèse and Marie Robin were highly regarded by the people of Pomerol, in the Bordeaux region, and lived up to their father's motto: "Quality over quantity". After establishing a foothold in the Pomerol appellation with the acquisition of Château Montviel, Catherine Péré-Vergé quickly demonstrated her ambition to take over one of Pomerol's leading vineyards, eventually choosing the prestigious Château le Gay, next door to Petrus...

Situated on the Pomerol plateau, the Château le Gay estate extends over a single block, with a cultivated area of 10.5 hectares. The vines are over 50 years old. They are planted on a clay-limestone gravel terroir. The grape varieties used to blend Château le Gay wines are Cabernet (35%), combining power and suppleness, and Merlot (65%). Catherine Péré-Vergé has always called on her friend Michel Rolland to vinify her wines. For this oenologist, vinifying a great wine means respecting it with the utmost care and bringing out the qualities of the grapes, and thus the expression of the terroir.

"A true Pomerol that assumes its power, in a silky case. The nose is warm and sunny, with candied blackberries, blueberries and dried flowers. With aeration, the more muted notes of barrel enrich the whole with pastry and cocoa scents. Superb volume and density, lush and balanced, the palate delivers a deep, savory sap, underpinned by silky, liquorice tannins". (Guide Hachette des Vins 2021 Edition)
