Château Rigaud
Château Rigaud is one of the most renowned crus in the Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion appellation, near Bordeaux. A family property since 1850, Château Rigaud was taken over in 2004 by Pierre Taïx, descendant of a family of winegrowers who, in addition to this estate, also cultivate Château Fongaban.

The Château Rigaud vineyard extends over 7 hectares, with vines planted on a predominantly clay-limestone terroir. In 1997, Pierre Taïx created a wine based on a plot selection from the Château Rigaud vineyard: La Mauriane. This cru is blended from two parcels: one located on a southwest-facing slope that traditionally produces very ripe grapes and extremely full-bodied wines, the other on a plateau where Merlot is planted to produce full-bodied wines, and a few Cabernet Franc vines that undeniably bring superior aromatic complexity. The whole estate stands out for the consistency that Pierre Taïx has succeeded in imposing on the quality of his wines. Château Rigaud has been awarded the Prix d'Excellence, the supreme distinction of the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, for two consecutive years. An exceptional pedigree for this generous wine, with character and staying power, predominantly Merlot (80%). This well-structured wine, with its fine, delicate aromas obtained after 16 months in barrel, is a sure bet for the Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion appellation.

Made from 35-year-old vines, this Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion is the perfect expression of its terroir. An expressive red, opening with notes of black and red berries, supported by scents of spice, vanilla and toasted notes, accompanied by a delicate violet nuance. The palate is both soft and intense, with a beautiful freshness. Enjoy now!
