"Delicacy and power"

"The bouquet is intense, revealing hints of cocoa beans and blackcurrant. Elegant and perfectly balanced on the palate. The wine is pleasant and very convincing. A beautiful symbiosis of subtlety, charm, and power. Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2018 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

This very consistent vintage has established itself as a sure bet in the appellation, producing increasingly rich wines without any loss of harmony.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Attractive nose, delicate and subtle, without giving too much away. Beautiful concentration, excellent control with a core of deep black fruit, and lovely soft, enveloping tannins. I like the energy, freshness, and lightness. It's not a workhorse, but it seems to have been carefully crafted. 2025 - 2044

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Marcel Dassault gave his name to the former Château Couperie, located on the northern slopes of Saint-Emilion. These cold terroirs require a certain discipline in order to produce great wines. Since 1995, under the efficient management of Laurence Brun, cultivation and vinification have been carried out according to the strictest rules of the Bordeaux school. A sure bet, the vintage is beginning to take its rightful place.

Wine Spectator

Wine Spectator

Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100 (Exceptional wine)

About wine:

Ripe and opulent, with the warm profile of blackcurrant, plum, and blackberry compote. This is supported by notes of alder and juniper that linger in a dark finish with earthy accents. There is a hint of bramble here, but everything is in proportion. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2024 to 2038.

James Suckling

James Suckling

Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100

About wine:

Aromas of blueberries, salted plums, stones, walnut husks, cloves, and dried herbs. It is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Fresh, tight, and mineral. Polished and refined with excellent length. Try it in 2025.

Le Figaro wines

Le Figaro vins

Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100

About wine:

A serious nose reminiscent of a Pomerol, both seductive and slightly chocolatey, with aromas of black cherry. On the palate, blackcurrant takes center stage, with a pleasant silky texture and a finish that leans toward notes of licorice root.

24-hectare estate (including 20 hectares in production) on the northern slope of St-Émilion. Sandy-clay soils, as well as clay on Fronsadais molasses. The wine is aged for 14 to 18 months in 70% new barrels and 30% one-wine barrels. The bouquet is intense, revealing hints of cocoa beans and blackcurrant. Elegant and perfectly balanced on the palate. The wine is pleasant and very convincing. A beautiful symbiosis of subtlety, charm, and power. 2025-2040

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is elegant, refined, and concentrated, offering power, a lovely finesse of grain, a certain delicacy in its power, and straightforwardness. There are notes of fleshy/ripe blackcurrant, blueberry and, more subtly, pulpy blueberry, combined with hints of raspberry, Cubeb pepper, spices, a discreet touch of cinnamon, vanilla and a subtle hint of paprika (in the background) and chocolate. The palate is fresh, delicate, balanced, and offers subtle power, straightforwardness, a certain strength/power (but all under control), a stretched-out quality, and a nice definition. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy blackcurrant, juicy/fresh boysenberry and, more subtly, raspberry, combined with hints of pulpy blue berries, chocolate, tonka bean, almond, subtle hints of fresh blond tobacco, a hint of clay-limestone freshness and a subtle hint of bergamot. The tannins are precise and elegant, offering a little mellowness and sapidity. Good length. There is a subtle chewiness on the finish/persistence.
