Château La Gaffelière
Owned by the Malet-Roquefort family, Château La Gaffelière is a family estate that boasts a typically French winemaking style, combining tradition and modernity. This respect for the terroir is linked to the origins of the Malet-Roquefort family, which Comte & Alexandre de Malet-Roquefort carefully preserve at Château La Gaffelière. In this 38-hectare vineyard, uniquely located on the southern slopes of Saint-Emilion, the combination of wines from the hillside and the foot of the hill produces a nectar that is powerful, racy, and silky. This harmony is found in all the vintages of Château La Gaffelière.

The property now covers 38 hectares, including 22 hectares of Premier Grand Cru Classé. Our plots are located in three areas:
-The limestone plateau with starfish: layers of 3 to 5 m of clay and green marl sandwiched between two layers of limestone.
-The south to southwest facing slope: This is an ideal location for growing grapes as it combines exposure and a slope that are favorable for ripening and natural drainage.
-The foot of the hillside: composed of deep sandy soils carbonated by colluvial deposits. These fragile but healthy soils require special attention to bring out their finesse and fruitiness through precise cultivation.

Château La Gaffelière is planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc and practices leaf removal and manual harvesting.
