C de Calon Ségur was known as "Saint-Estèphe de Calon Ségur" until the 2018 vintage. Essentially made from young Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, this third wine benefits from the equipment and know-how of its elder brother's team. C as in the third letter of the alphabet, for the estate's third wine. C as in Cœur, the symbol of the Marquis de Ségur's love for the estate and the distinctive sign that makes our bottles so unique. C for Calon, quite simply.

"The nose is very deep and fragrant; the 1% Petit Verdot is quite powerful and intense with ripe fruit aromas. The palate, however, is very soft and silky, so juicy and charming, with great balance. Great energy and freshness emanate from this lively, well-defined wine - succulent, yet intense and linear in structure. The weight comes from plump, ripe fruit - blackcurrant, black cherry and plum - counterbalanced by a refreshing, wet-stone, pencil lead minerality. The richness is undeniable, the concentration is there, but there's also a prestidigitation on the finish, so well executed and so long. Very impressive indeed. (Decanter 2023)

"In the second wine, the proportion of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon is reversed, as is often the case. The former, which generally ripens earlier, takes precedence over the latter. Without having the power of its elder, this wine is very pleasant, with an elegant fruity and woody bouquet and a lovely weave of melted tannins". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2018) Superb!
