Château Gruaud Larose
Château Gruaud Larose is located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. Château Gruaud Larose is ranked second grand cru in the 1855 classification.

In 1997, the Merlaut family acquired Château Gruaud Larose and continued the policy initiated by its predecessor in the early 1990s: to produce a world-class AOC Saint-Julien wine while respecting the environment and traditions. Some of Gruaud-Larose's great vintages have remained exceptional, including 1961, 1982, 1986 and 1989...

"Among Saint-Julien's elite: attention to detail, subtlety and delicacy!"

"A sense of detail, subtlety and delicacy seem to be taken for granted at Gruaud-Larose, yet it takes relentless effort every year to achieve such a level. And that's where Gruaud-Larose stands among St-Julien's elite, with its ability to present great wines year after year. Like the bouquet, the palate displays high definition, with tight but integrated tannins that have the substance to carry the wine through the decades to come. A dense, young, precise and powerful wine. What relevance and continuity! Bravo!" (Yves Beck 2022) - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

"Remarkable value for money! B&D "

"The bouquet of the 2019 reveals itself with delicacy. Nuances of blackberry and peppermint followed by a touch of graphite. On the palate, the attack suggests a slender character, but that's without counting the tannic structure that reveals itself step by step, ideally supported by the acid structure. The wine has body, muscle and plenty of freshness. It can certainly be enjoyed in its youth, but like its predecessors, you'll have to wait for it" (Yves Beck 2021).

"Rich, evolved, cedar, cassis and cherry notes are present in this dark ruby-colored 2011. With medium body, pleasing ripeness and fruit, good purity and depth, and no herbaceous character or hardness, it's precocious, flattering, comely, and suggests it will be around for 10-15 years." Château Gruaud Larose 2008

Notes : Robert Parker 89-91+/100, Gault Millau 17,5/20, RVF 15,5/20
"The wisdom of Jean Merlaut, the estate's administrator, can be felt in the current evolution of this vintage, which is cleaner and more precise than in the past, but with the same generosity of bouquet and charm of texture". (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2011 - Bettane & Desseauve)."Gruaud Larose's 2008 is the finest I've tasted in eight years" (Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate #182)
