"A beautiful discovery typical of St-Julien!"
" The discreet but elegant bouquet opens up gently to black fruit on aeration. This straightforward, well-balanced wine finds full expression on the palate, buoyed by a solid tannic structure and a pleasant freshness that gives it good length." (Guide Hachette des Vins - Edition 2022). One of Saint-Julien's finest discoveries, with unbeatable value for money!

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the wine:
The discreet but elegant bouquet opens up gently to black fruits on aeration. This straightforward, well-balanced wine finds its full expression on the palate, supported by a solid tannic structure and a pleasant freshness that gives it good length. 2025-2030
About the domain :
As its name suggests, the terroir of this cru, detached from Château Lagrange in 1964 and located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle along the "great wine" road that runs alongside the Gironde, is quite poor. A disadvantage for all other crops, but an advantage for quality vines. Acquired in 1982, one of the Meffre family's Bordeaux estates.
Wine Spectator
Rated (guide 2021) 90/100 (Very good wine)
About the wine:
Solid, with a well-crafted core of cassis and plum, supported by a graphite note and framed by hints of smoky tobacco and black earth. A classic introduction to Saint-Julien. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 2022 - 2030

Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
In this ripe wine, velvety fruit surrounds the firm tannins typical of Saint-Julien. It's full of the blackcurrant aromas of the majority of Cabernet Sauvignons. This rich wine needs ageing. Drink from 2024.
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 91/100
About the wine:
Aromas of blackberry, graphite, dark chocolate and hazelnut. Medium- to full-bodied, with firm, fine tannins. Structured and concentrated. Linear and fine. To be tried from 2024.

Tasted in 06/24. Quite taken aback by this wine, which has good potential but is unbalanced. Fruit on one side, acidity on the other; the wood ageing is not visible; a pity it could have given harmony.
