"With its lovely golden color, this wine lives up to the reputation of its vintage through the intensity and complexity of its bouquet, with its candied notes (quince, yellow and white fruits), as well as its development on the palate. Full-bodied, dense, rich and very fresh, this wine is also very seductive for the expressive character of its ripe fruit aromas supported by a well-balanced woodiness". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022) A chic partner to luxury events on Avenue Montaigne, this cuvée is described as " one of the Gems liquoreuses of the Sainte-Croix-du-Mont appellation ".

Expert opinion

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2019 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the domain :

The vines of La Rame, with their limestone terroir rich in fossilized oysters, still produce very well-constituted sweet wines today. The 2016 sainte-croix-du-mont confirms the consistency of this softly-priced château.

About the wine:

A beautiful golden color, this wine lives up to its reputation for intensity and complexity of bouquet, with candied notes (quince, yellow and white fruits), as well as development on the palate. Full-bodied, dense, rich and very fresh, this wine is also very seductive, with its expressive ripe fruit aromas supported by well-dosed oak.

About the domain :

Established in Sainte-Croix for eight generations, the Armand family is a local institution for its renowned sweet wines. They produce two crus (organic, without certification): Caussade and Rame, their flagship, whose wines were already renowned in the 19th century. Angélique and Grégoire Armand took over from their father Yves in 2009.

Domaine noté (guide 2019) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

An established name in the Sainte-Croix-du-Mont appellation, Château La Rame benefits from a remarkable terroir of south-facing hillsides. It is now run by Yves Armand's children, Grégoire and Angélique. The wines are highly consistent, both in terms of precise aromas and ageing. The estate's prestige cuvée, La Réserve du Château, created in 1983, is still of the highest quality and ages admirably. More affordable in price, Château La Caussade is a pleasantly fruity sweet wine, but one that is progressing in complexity, particularly in the fine 2015 vintage. The simpler reds can also prove delicious.
