Château Rieussec
Premier Cru Classé de Sauternes et Barsac in 1855, the Château Rieussec is now part of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), and benefits from the best care in both vineyard and cellar to produce one of the appellation's benchmarks.

Adjoining Château d'Yquem, Château Rieussec is one of the most important estates in Sauternes and Barsac, with a vineyard covering 93 hectares of sandy-clay gravel soils. The Sémillon grape variety dominates (90%), alongside Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Carried out in the Sauternes tradition, the best care is taken and the grapes are harvested in several successive selections, depending on their state of ripeness and the development of botrytis (noble rot).

The Château Rieussec cellars are located in Fargues, in the heart of the vineyards. Each vintage is aged in oak barrels from the Tonnellerie des Domaines, half of which are renewed each year. Barrel ageing varies from 16 to 26 months, depending on the vintage, during which time the wines are periodically racked and bottled at the Château.

"One of the finest Sauternes with tremendous power and exemplary purity of fruit!"

"The château's square tower dominates a gravelly hilltop at the same height as its immediate neighbor, Yquem. Needless to say, the estate enjoys an exceptional terroir; for proof, just taste this remarkable 2007. Light in color, it develops a fine, powerful bouquet combining ripe grapes, apricot, broom and cinnamon with a touch of balsamic. Silky, round and rich, the palate finds its balance between liqueur and fresh menthol notes. Pair with veal chuck braised with orange and star anise". (Le Guide Hachette 2011) - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

"Exceptional vintage rated 99/100!

"Golden yellow. Intense, complex bouquet! Obviously seductive, charming, but also convincing as it reveals itself with precision. Passion fruit, quince, candied orange and saffron. A sort of journey between sweetness and freshness. On the palate, Rieussec is racy, sweet, powerful, opulent and subtle. It couldn't be more paradoxical! What greatness, I have rarely tasted Rieussec so well... note that I always taste it well in fact, but this one is of a breed and sweetness so complementary to each other that the balance is perfect." "This pretty, mineral white wine has a new, modern look!

"A blend of Sauvignon (55%) and Semillon aged partially in barrels, with one-quarter new oak, this very fine white evokes an assertive mineral character with a hint of shellfish right from the opening, enhanced by fine floral nuances. The fresh, citrusy attack, the fine development on the palate, between tension and roundness, and the finish of fine bitters make up a complete, energetic and balanced wine, underpinned by a great mineral and chalky character". immediate pleasure

"A timeless Domaines Barons de Rothschild".

"Carmes de Rieussec's very pure nose, reminiscent of candied apricot, announces a fresh, ripe liqueur. A very smooth Sauternes, with a slightly sticky sensation. The finish is lively, with notes of candied lemon". (Le Guide de la Revue du Vin de France 2021) - A fine achievement for a 2nd wine, which will be a real pleasure to drink!
