Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

From Les Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune trading house, founded in 1731, owns over 142 parcels in 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of premier and grand cru. This first-rate winegrowing heritage enables Fréderic Weber, a talented winemaker who was previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce around 600,000 bottles out of the total three million produced here each year, with most of the production coming from purchased grapes for the great reds, and carefully selected musts for the non-domain whites. Impressive success in both white and red wines in recent vintages.

Decanter

Decanter

Rated wine (guide 2022) 90/100

About the wine:

Produced exclusively at Bouchard since 1907, the white is a blend of four parcels, each vinified separately before being assembled. Just under 10 ha, limestone, clay and marl soils, 9-10 months in wood (up to 15% new wood) and 3-4 months in stainless steel before bottling. Quite a closed nose, with notes of lime blossom. Acidity and citrus zest on the palate, with a mineral note on the finish. Supple, ripe, concentrated oak. Drink relatively early.
