Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2017 guide) 16.5/20 (Reference wine)
Domaine rated (2017 guide) 4*Stars (Very high quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
From La Bousse d'Or to Patrick Landanger, via the Dukes of Burgundy and Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet, this estate has been home to Burgundy's great men for over eight centuries. One of them, Gérard Potel, glorified the wines of Volnays from 1964 to 1997, until his sudden death. Patrick Landanger, who bought the estate in 1997, took over the reins of the winery himself in 1999, carrying out a series of colossal works, including a redesign of the winery, which now operates by gravity over 6 floors. Since then, the domaine's wines have never ceased to move towards the paroxysm of Volnaysian femininity and incomparable silkiness on the palate. The recent addition of Chambolle-Musigny from the former Moine-Hudelot estate only confirms this trend.

Rated (2017 guide) 17/20 (Grand vin)
Domaine rated (2017 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning connoisseurs).
About the wine:
A wine of admirable delicacy of texture, with remarkable silkiness and admirable management of extraction. Both long and savory.
About the domain :
Magnificent estate in Volnay. La Pousse d'Or owes its renaissance to Patrick Landanger, who has devoted considerable financial and human resources to restoring the reputation of this emblematic estate. He has considerably improved the winemaking facilities and acquired new plots, notably in the Côte de Nuits. The vintages are all remarkable.
