Chevalier-Montrachet
The appellation d'origine contrôlée Chevalier-Montrachet has been a Grand Cru appellation in Côte de Beaune, Côte-d'Or, since 1937. On the label, the Grand Cru denomination must appear immediately below the name of each of these appellations in the same font size. The Chevalier-Montrachet appellation is exclusive to the commune of Puligny-Montrachet.

Montrachet: shallow soils on hard limestone, crossed by a band of reddish marl. In Chevalier, thin, stony soils: light rendzines formed on marl and marly limestone. The seven hectares of vines classified for Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru only permit a confidential production of around 300 hectolitres per year.

The Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru appellation produces exclusively white wines, made from one of Burgundy's flagship grape varieties: Chardonnay. While there are nuances between the different climates, there are common features. Beneath an emerald gold color, yellowing with age, the white wine bouquet suggests butter and warm croissant, fern, dried fruit, spices and honey. Body and bouquet are indistinguishable, as structure and harmony merge into perfect unity. Unctuous and firm, dry and caressing, enveloping and profound, Chevalier-Montrachet wine possesses all the grace of an unyielding character. The exceptional characteristics of Chevalier-Montrachet are perfectly expressed in the wines offered by Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils, Domaine Louis Latour, Domaine d'Auvenay and Maison Louis Jadot.

"Citrus fruits and flowers are hinted at, and the palate is escorted by buttery aromas where roundness and warmth come together to form an integral sphere. The fruity touch on the nose is identical on the palate. A grand cru that well deserves its name".
