"A masterful Grand Cru
"I love the depth of fruit and intensity of this wine. It has nuances of black fruit and flowers, as well as meat, which is very captivating. Full body, purity of fruit and lovely powerful tannins. Smooth and powerful. Targeted austerity. A cellar wine. (James Suckling).

About the domain :
Founded in 1797, this family-run business has strong links with the Côte de Beaune, where it owns most of its vineyards, culminating in a sumptuous site on the famous Corton hillside. Louis-Fabrice, the eleventh generation of Latour, presides over the family board and has every confidence in his excellent winemakers. The reds have had their fermentation times extended, giving them more flesh and body, while the whites are less reduced and more harmoniously oaked than in the past, with a constant quest for balance that sometimes makes them undervalued in their youth, but they age magnificently. 2017 is in line with the success of 2010 and 2015, in both colors, but we'll trust the cuvées from the estate's vines more than certain purchases, especially the overly diluted whites.

About the wine:
Corton Grancey is the pinnacle of Latour's Corton range this year. It opens with a complex bouquet of black fruits, forest floor, orange zest and a frame of cedary new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with a chassis of chalky tannins, supported by fresh, taut acids, and reveals excellent concentration and depth.

About the domain :
An independent family business, founded in 1797 and run successively by 10 generations of Latour. A key player in Burgundy winegrowing and the largest owner of Grands Crus in the Côte-d'Or (28 ha of its 48 hectares of vineyards). The grapes are vinified in Aloxe-Corton, the family's birthplace, and the company has its own cooperage.

About the wine:
Best parcels on the estate. The heart of Corton. More woody, slightly marked, very floral, black fruit. Velvety chewy, slightly tannic. Very dense. Magnificent ageing potential.

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
The 2016 Château Corton-Grancey Grand Cru shows very well right from the bottle, unfolding in the glass with a tight, youthful bouquet of plums, blackcurrants, subtle spices and nascent notes of undergrowth. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with tangy acids, fine but firm structuring tannins and a long, expansive finish. Beautifully complete and cellar-bound, it will reward bottle age.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
The 2016 Corton-Grancey Grand Cru is deeper in color than its peers, with notes of blackberry and raspberry, hints of underbrush and faded violet. This wine is quite complex, if a little lacking in joie de vivre. The palate is medium-bodied, with crisp red fruit, fine acidity, great precision and class towards the finish, which shows an impressive integration of oak and substance. This is a well-crafted, very typical Corton that should age with style.
