Coteaux Bourguignons

Burgundian hillsides
The Coteaux Bourguignons appellation is a new appellation recognized in 2011 and reserved for red and white wines produced within the area delimited by the Yonne department (54 communes), the Côte-d'Or department (91 communes), the Saône-et-Loire department (154 communes), and the Rhône department (85 communes). Rosé wines produced within this area are entitled to the appellation Coteaux Bourguignons rosé or Coteaux Bourguignons Clairet.

Coteaux Bourguignons are unique in that they can be blended wines or single-varietal wines, and sometimes use ancient grape varieties. The Coteaux Bour guignons appellation boasts an infinite variety of terroirs, from the chalky bedrock around Joigny in the north, to the granites of southern Burgundy, to the limestones and marls most often found in the appellation.
