"Blackcurrant, black cherry, violet and resinous accents on the nose of this 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Fonteny, followed by a firm, formidable presence on the palate, with fine tannins. The overall impression is driven by fresh berry fruit, with depth and energy. It's worth following for at least a decade, as it will show plenty of nuance." (Wine Advocate Apr. 2012 - Robert Parker)

Expert opinion
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2012 guide) 18/20 (Outstanding)
About the wine:
Perfectly expressive nose, combining black berries, spices and a hint of empyreumatic notes. Lively, powerful and concentrated on the palate. The tannins are well blended. The finish is long, crisp, fruity and generous.

About the domain :
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2011 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (2014 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
Le gevrey Clos du Fonteny is a strict wine, but magnificent for its sharpness and purity.
About the domain :
"Bruno Clair makes classic Burgundies that are young, lively and razor-sharp; they are often only understood after a few years' cellaring. They are immediately recognizable by their purity and long finish. The domaine has highlighted the terroirs of Marsannay as well as a fine series of Gevrey-Chambertins, including the magnificent Clos Saint-Jacques and the domaine's masterpiece: the elegant and refined Chambertin Clos de Bèze. The lesser-known whites are just as remarkable. The estate's consistency is commendable.
