This great Côte de Beaune village is unique in that it produces only red wines. Renowned since the very origins of Pommard was already referred to in the Middle Ages as "the flower of Beaune wines". A renowned Côte de Beaune cru, this superb red wine has a firm tannic structure, but remains greedy thanks to its density. A great Burgundian terroir- Limited quantities available.

Terroirs
The vineyard extends over well-drained, ancient alluvium, where the concentration of iron oxides reddens the soil. The limestone bedrock, close to the surface, and the presence of marl make this parcel a great Pinot terroir.

Manual at optimum maturity
Winemaking
It is made from a perfectly respected harvest, without the addition of yeast. Extraction is measured and each punching-down decision is weighed at length. After about 3 weeks, the wine is pressed and then gravity-fed into oak barrels. It spends two winters in our cellars, with no intervention other than constant monitoring.

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
This small estate comprises 8 hectares of vines, spread between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune. Founded in 2009 by Olivier Decelle and Pierre-Jean Villa, it has been managed from the outset by Jean Lupatelli, a talented man who oversees vineyard management and vinification with great insight. The estate rounds out its range with a few additional purchases on the equivalent of two hectares, in historic appellations followed since the creation of the brand, and relying on vines harvested by in-house teams. The 2018 reds are tender, charming, well-fruited and floral, clearly respecting their origins.

Domaine noté Award-winning wines (Wines from this producer regularly win awards in the guide)
About the domain :
Founded in 2009 by two non-Burgundy associates - Pierre-Jean Villa (Northern Rhône Valley) and Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Roussillon, Jean Faure, Haut-Ballet, Haut-Maurac in Bordeaux) backed up by their oenologist Jean Lupatelli - this Nuitonne house (négoce and domaine) has now carved out a solid place for itself in Burgundy.

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
Founded in 2009 by two great wine gentlemen, Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Roussillon and Jean Faure in Saint-Émilion), and Pierre-Jean Villa, a winemaker in the northern Rhône Valley, this estate stopped buying grapes in 2017. Previously named Decelle-Villa, it became Decelle et Fils in 2020. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, it relies on estate-owned vines on the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, grown organically. Fine technician Jean Lupatelli has crafted excellent wines here, with 20-50% whole harvest in the reds, but he has just left the domaine in spring 2021.
