Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Estate rated (2016 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
A close-knit family, a generous heart, an innate taste for the right flavor, beautiful vines on the best terroirs of Saint-Aubin and Santenay, all this explains the constant success of this domaine for almost twenty years. Saint-Aubin's whites are certainly among the best value for money in Burgundy.

About the domain :
Created by Françoise and Denis Clair in 1986 from 5 ha, this estate, often in the limelight for its Saint-Aubin and Santenay wines, now covers 14 ha, with a small trading activity on the side. Son Jean-Baptiste, who joined in 2000, has been in charge of vinification since 2011.

Rated (2016 guide) 16/20 (Vintage 2013) (Very good wine)
Estate rated (2016 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
Jean-Baptiste Clair, 36, joined the family domaine in 2000, alongside his father, and has grown it to 15 hectares in Saint-Aubin and Santenay. "My training as a white winemaker complements that of my father, who had already mastered the reds in the 1980s," he explains. Their great Saint-Aubin terroirs (En Remilly, Les Murgers des Dents de Chien, Sur Gamay...) combine notes of sweet chalk, ripeness and density, without losing Saint-Aubin's signature freshness. The whites are fine and crystalline. The reds are among Santenay's most seductive. The Clair family were among the first to understand the benefits of cooling grapes to extract maximum aromatic potential. The grapes are harvested from first-rate terroirs.
