Romanée-Saint-Vivant
Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a Burgundy appellation with very deep clay-limestone soils, producing exclusively Pinot Noir-based red wines. The Grands Crus of this appellation often have good ageing potential, and some should only be enjoyed after a decade or more, or even 20-30 years. The wines of Romanée-Saint-Vivant are very subtle, complex, with a full bouquet of red and black berries, spice and floral notes (often violet), as well as undergrowth with age. The palate is generally clean and powerful, delicate and sensual, frank and complete. The tight yet elegant tannins are the perfect accompaniment to game, whether braised or in sauce.

"A dense, structured young red wine of extraordinary depth and power. Muscular, yet balanced and refined. The bouquet of ripe strawberries and cherries is impressive, with hints of hazelnut and mushroom. But it's the texture that makes it exceptional. This is an indication of the superb structure. Drink after 2025. (James Suckling 2020)
