"Intense purple with purplish highlights, the 2011 releases black cherry scents enhanced by hints of spice from 15 months of barrel ageing. Beautiful blackcurrant-raspberry fruit, smooth tannins and a hint of licorice make this a charming wine, but you'll have to be patient and leave it in the cellar for at least two years". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014). Already very pleasant!

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2017 guide) 4*Stars (Very high quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

From La Bousse d'Or to Patrick Landanger, via the Dukes of Burgundy and Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet, this estate has been home to Burgundy's great men for over eight centuries. One of them, Gérard Potel, glorified the wines of Volnays from 1964 to 1997, until his sudden death. Patrick Landanger, who bought the estate in 1997, took over the reins of the winery himself in 1999, carrying out a series of colossal works, including a redesign of the winery, which now operates by gravity over 6 floors. Since then, the domaine's wines have never ceased to move towards the paroxysm of Volnaysian femininity and incomparable silkiness on the palate. The recent addition of Chambolle-Musigny from the former Moine-Hudelot estate only confirms this trend.

About the wine:

Owned by Patrick Landanger since 1997, this renowned Volnay estate holds vines in illustrious appellations such as Corton, Puligny-Montrachet... In Santenay, it manages over 2 ha in the most renowned 1er crus, such as this Clos Tavannes. Intense purple with purplish highlights, the 2011 releases scents of black cherry enhanced by hints of spice bequeathed by 15 months' barrel ageing. Attractive blackcurrant-raspberry fruit, smooth tannins and a hint of licorice make this a charming wine, but you'll have to be patient and leave it in the cellar for at least two years. For a jugged hare.

Domaine rated (2017 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning connoisseurs).

About the domain :

Magnificent estate in Volnay. La Pousse d'Or owes its renaissance to Patrick Landanger, who has devoted considerable financial and human resources to restoring the reputation of this emblematic estate. He has considerably improved the winemaking facilities and acquired new plots, notably in the Côte de Nuits. The vintages are all remarkable.
