"Behind a deep ruby robe tending towards violet, we discover aromas of strawberry and flowers accompanied by a lovely vanilla woodiness. Our judges like its supple, fruity attack, its concentrated body and its presence on the finish. Close to the star, this 2009 will certainly reach this level once its tannins have finished polishing. A shank of beef braised with thyme would be a perfect accompaniment after two years in the cellar". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins)

Rated wine (2013 guide) Cited (Successful wine)

About the wine:

This vast family estate (21.85 ha) is based in the Côte de Nuits. Philippe Brun has been in charge of vinification since 1986. This vineyard, La Dominode, included in the 1er cru Les Jarrons, is one of the estate's best-sellers. Its deep ruby/purple color reveals strawberry and floral aromas with a lovely vanilla woodiness. Our jurors like its supple, fruity attack, its concentrated body and its presence on the finish. Close to the star, this 2009 will certainly reach this level once its tannins have finished polishing. A thyme-braised beef shank would be an excellent accompaniment to this wine after two years in the cellar.

About the wine:

Bruno Clair's 2009 Savigny-les-Beaune La Dominode is fabulous in this vintage. The warmth of the year has produced a magnificently full-bodied wine. This 2009 is ripe, exotic and exuberant. I especially admire the juxtaposition of fleshiness and lingering minerality. Expected maturity between 2012 and 2024.

Wine rated (2012 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (2014 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

The Savigny Premier cru La Dominode is marked by its ageing but has a lovely silky texture.

About the domain :

"Bruno Clair makes classic Burgundies that are young, lively and razor-sharp; they are often only understood after a few years' cellaring. They are immediately recognizable by their purity and long finish. The domaine has highlighted the terroirs of Marsannay as well as a fine series of Gevrey-Chambertins, including the magnificent Clos Saint-Jacques and the domaine's masterpiece: the elegant and refined Chambertin Clos de Bèze. The lesser-known whites are just as remarkable. The estate's consistency is commendable.
